Per the Delaware Lottery<\/a>, the state reported a record-breaking handle and revenue for September 2024. That is thanks to the NFL season kicking off at the beginning of last month. Delaware\u2019s total handle in September was $23.2 million, more than they saw in July and August combined. Their $4.1 million in revenue was also an all-time high thanks to a solid 20.1% hold.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Online wagering in Delaware accounted for $19 million of the $23.2 million handle. All of that money was wagered through the exclusive operator in the state, BetRivers. On top of the online sportsbooks, Delaware also has three land-based casinos. Delaware Park saw the state\u2019s highest handle for retail casinos at $13 million. Harrington had $4 million and Bally\u2019s Dover had $2.1 million. The final $4.2 million was wagered in person at the three retail locations.<\/span><\/p>\n In September, sports betting revenue skyrocketed in Delaware. Revenue increased 202.7% year-over-year compared to the $1.5 million from September 2023. For the entire calendar year in 2023, the state generated $65.3 million in a sports betting handle. Through the first nine months of 2024, the state has already more than doubled that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Delaware sportsbooks have accepted $136.9 million worth of wagers so far this year. Revenue for the 2025 fiscal year is at $7.5 million. That is after July and August failed to have over $2 million in monthly revenue. The state\u2019s handle for fiscal revenue this time last year was a combined $2.3 million. Far less than the $7.5 million so far.<\/span><\/p>\n Across the sports betting market in the United States, professional football continues to be at the top. Americans love to watch and gamble on the NFL. The season runs from September – February each year and football has made its impact in the Delaware market. Recently, the American Gaming Association<\/a> (AGA) announced they expect $35 billion to be wagered on the NFL this season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n That is up significantly compared to the $26.7 billion wagered on the NFL in 2023. In January 2023, Delaware sportsbooks collected $2.3 million in revenue. During every month after that except March, the state fell below $500,00 in monthly figures. In the final four months of 2023, Delaware had $1 million or better in a monthly handle.
