NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson opened the Round of 12 similar to how he started the Round of 16.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2021 circuit champion slammed into a wall.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the 19<\/span>th<\/span> lap of Sunday\u2019s Hollywood Casino 400 Presented by ESPN BET, Larson\u2019s No. 5 Chevrolet, which ran P10, suffered a cut tire and collided with the Turn 2 wall at Kansas Speedway, signaling the second caution period.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Entering Sunday as the playoffs points leader, Larson continued racing through a 56-lap green-flag run, but battled steering problems and was eventually lapped, finishing Stage 1 P35. Larson benefited from Daniel Hemric\u2019s Lap 143 spin to get back on the lead lap. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As non-playoff pilot Ross Chastain played spoiler by edging William Byron by 0.388 seconds to earn his fifth career Cup title, Larson limped to a 25th-place finish. Larson opened the postseason with a crash at Atlanta, but rallied to advance to the next round. Can he do it again over the next two outings, beginning at Talladega Superspeedway next Sunday?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Larson departed Kansas P4\u00a0in the standings, 18 points above the cutoff line. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
