View the Texans&#8217; depth chart below.<\/p>\n<h2>RBs Joe Mixon And Dameon Pierce Injured<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Neither Texans RB, Joe Mixon nor Dameon Pierce, practiced today, putting Cam Akers in line to start again Sunday vs. the Jaguars.<\/p>\n<p>Texans WR Tank Dell also did not practice for a second straight day.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1839406638677295289?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 26, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/news\/are-the-houston-texans-the-second-best-team-in-the-afc\/\">Texans (2-1)<\/a> backfield is struggling to stay healthy.<\/p>\n<p>Running backs Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce are injured and missed Thursday&#8217;s practice.<\/p>\n<p>Mixon tweaked his ankle in the team&#8217;s Week 2 win over the Chicago Bears and sat out Week 3&#8217;s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Mixon had a monster Week 1 performance, garnering 30 carries for 159 yards and one touchdown in a win over the Indianapolis Colts.<\/p>\n<p>Pierce played sparingly in Week 1 \u2014 three carries for 16 yards \u2014 and missed the last two games with a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n<p>Mixon and Pierce are trending toward not playing in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.<\/p>\n<p>If Mixon and Pierce sit out, Cam Akers would start a running back for the second consecutive week. The second-year wideout appears unlikely to play in Week 4.<\/p>\n<p>The surprise name on the injury report is Nico Collins, the Texans&#8217; top receiver.
