We have an important 48 hours to see where he&#39;s at and get in front of rest of QB room. talk to coaches and players and get\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Barry Jackson (@flasportsbuzz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/flasportsbuzz\/status\/1838622346325741750?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 24, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>After Tagovailoa exited Week 2&#8217;s loss to the Buffalo Bills with a head injury, backup quarterback Skylar Thompson got the start in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson finished the game completing 13 of 19 passes for 107 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions in Miami&#8217;s 24-3 loss. None of Thompson&#8217;s nine drives lasted longer than five plays.<\/p>\n<p>To make matters worse, Thompson exited the game early with a rib injury.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Boyle replaced Thompson, finishing 7 of 13 for 79 yards.<\/p>\n<p>The three points were the lowest scored by the Dolphins since McDaniel was hired in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Will the Dolphins make a quarterback change? McDaniel is not ruling it out, though he&#8217;s waiting to see if Thompson&#8217;s day-to-day injury improves.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As Skylar progresses, I think that leaves variables more vague. I think we have an important 48 hours to see where he&#8217;s at and then get in front of the rest of the quarterbacks room,&#8221; McDaniel said via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/41420688\/mike-mcdaniel-says-possible-dolphins-make-qb-change-mnf\">ESPN<\/a>. &#8220;I think you have to open up your mind to a plethora of different solutions, considering your current answers, as objectively as you can evaluate, haven&#8217;t been the right ones.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Keep An Eye On Tyler Huntley<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said it also was \u201ca possibility, for sure\u201d that Tyler Huntley would be Miami\u2019s starting QB on Monday night vs. the Titans. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bMCTJu5RqC\">https:\/\/t.co\/bMCTJu5RqC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1838629387362591216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 24, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>One name to keep an eye on is Tyler Huntley, who the Dolphins signed off the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/news\/ranking-baltimore-ravens-quarterbacks-franchise-history\/\">Baltimore Ravens<\/a> practice squad last week.<\/p>\n<p>Huntley began the week as the Dolphins third-string quarterback. If Thompson misses time, Huntley will move up the depth chart and even have the chance to start over Boyle.<\/p>\n<p>Huntley has spent most of his five-year career as the Ravens backup quarterback to Lamar Jackson. When Jackson was injured in 2022, Huntley became the starter, going 2-2 down the stretch and helping the team reach the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>In the Wild Card game, Huntley completed 17 of 29 passes for 226 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in Baltimore&#8217;s 27-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With Tua Tagovailoa out with a concussion, who will start at quarterback for the Miami Dolphins in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans?
