After opening the\u00a0NASCAR Cup Series playoffs with two ho-hum efforts, Kyle Larson made a statement by dominating Saturday\u2019s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels good to close one out,\u201d Larson told NBC Sports. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2021 Cup champion closed out the Round of 16 by leading 462 of 500 laps. He established a new Hendrick Motorsports single-race record, eclipsing all-time greats like Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. Gordon previously owned the record when he paced Martinsville Speedway field for 431 laps on April 20, 1997.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c(We) just had a great car,\u201d said Larson, who placed P37 and P12 in the first two postseason events. \u201cGreat execution by the team all weekend.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
