Will McCaffrey play in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings?<\/p>\n<h2>Will Christian McCaffrey Play In Week 2?<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Kyle Shanahan says Christian McCaffrey has Achilles tendinitis.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Grant Cohn (@grantcohn) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/grantcohn\/status\/1833567523092246949?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 10, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>McCaffrey was a shocking scratch from the lineup before Monday night&#8217;s 32-19 victory over the New York Jets.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that McCaffrey is suffering from Achilles tendinitis (via <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/grantcohn\/status\/1833567523092246949?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1833567523092246949%7Ctwgr%5E7894149163e59bb0c38ad65c98f4c2ee4d175396%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportscasting.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost-new.php\">Grant Cohn<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_9gmhb30ih\">\u201cJust the same stuff that was bothering him all week,&#8221; Kyle Shanahan said on ruling McCaffrey inactive (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/49ers\/news\/49ers-should-rest-christian-mccaffrey-against-the-vikings-01j7efraffnb\">SI<\/a>). &#8220;There was a little too much today, game-time decision. He came in, just talking to him about it, it was still there. Thought it was going to be smart to keep him out and glad we did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCaffrey suffered the calf and Achilles injuries on August 6. McCaffrey sat out the entire preseason.<\/p>\n<p>Had this been a playoff game, Shanahan believes McCaffrey would have suited up and played. Since Monday night&#8217;s game was Week 1 of 17, the team decided to rest their All-Pro running back.<\/p>\n<p>Shanahan said they will monitor McCaffrey&#8217;s injuries all week leading up to the 49ers&#8217; Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings. No problem.<\/p>\n<p>With McCaffrey out in Week 1, the 49ers turned to third-year veteran Jordan Mason, who excelled as the lead back.<\/p>\n<p>Mason carried the ball 28 times for 147 rushing yards and one touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>If McCaffrey can&#8217;t play against the Vikings, Mason proved he can be the No. 1 option in the backfield.<\/p>\n<p>There was some controversy after the game.
