Aston Villa are set to take on Young Boys in the Champions League and the Villains have a huge advantage when comparing squad values.

Aston Villa qualified for the Champions League after finishing fourth in England’s top-flight last season and will enter Europe’s elite competition for the first time since 1982/83.

The Villains have never appeared in the UCL since its rebrand in 1992, but did reach the UEFA Conference League semi finals last season – being knocked out by Olympiacos.

Their opponents on Tuesday night have endured a difficult start to their Swiss Super League campaign, picking up three points from six matches and are yet to earn their first victory (3D+3L).

This poor start has been a major shock in Switzerland, as Young Boys are not only the current title holders, but have also won the league in six of the last seven campaigns.

Villa will be without Leon Bailey and Matty Cash, who have both picked up injuries in the early stages of the season – whilst Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara will also miss out.

Despite these injuries, the Villains still have a major advantage when looking at both squads – as the Premier League’s side is worth almost 10 times more than their Swiss counterparts.
