Sabalenka Swiatek US Open

Iga Swiatek has extended her reign as world No. 1 after the latest WTA Rankings update, but Aryna Sabalenka’s US Open title win has narrowed the gap between the top two.

WTA Rankings Update Following The US Open

Swiatek, who has now spent 120 weeks at the top, remains comfortably ahead of Sabalenka. However, the Belarusian’s Grand Slam triumph has reduced the points difference to 2,169.

The battle for the year-end No. 1 is expected to go down to the wire, with both players having points to defend in the coming months. The season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh will likely be the deciding factor.

Jessica Pegula’s impressive performance at the US Open, culminating in a runner-up finish, has propelled her to No. 3 in the rankings. Coco Gauff, on the other hand, has dropped to No. 6 after a disappointing fourth-round exit.

Emma Navarro, a rising star in American tennis, has made a significant breakthrough, cracking the top 10 for the first time in her career. Her impressive run to the US Open semi-finals earned her a four-place jump to No. 8.

Other notable changes in the top 20 include Anna Kalinskaya and Diana Shnaider reaching new career highs, while Beatriz Haddad Maia and Paula Badosa have re-entered the top 20.

Madison Keys has slipped out of the top 20, while Ons Jabeur and Marketa Vondrousova have also experienced declines in their rankings.

WTA Rankings Update: Dart Overtakes Radacanu As British No. 2

In the lower rankings, Lulu Sun, Elina Avanesyan, Ashlyn Krueger, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, Erika Andreeva, Harriet Dart, and Renata Zarazua have all reached career-highs.

Dart, who has overtaken Emma Raducanu as the British No. 2, behind Katie Boulter, missed a golden opportunity to climb further up the rankings during the North American hard-court swing.

The 21-year-old started the season at No. 89 but failed to capitalise on her strong start, losing in the first round of the US Open.

Iva Jovic, a 16-year-old rising star, has made a remarkable 99-place jump in the rankings after reaching the second round of the US Open.
