Wolves Home History

Defeat to Manchester City would hand Wolves their fourth Premier League defeat in a row at home, making it their worst start at Molineux in the clubs’ history.

Losing on Sunday would also mean that Gary O’Neil’s side have not won a single game from the opening eight league matches – their worst record since 2004-05.

The Midlands-based side have only started off a league campaign in poorer form on three other occasions, coming in the 1922-23 (8), 1926-27 (10), and 1983-84 (14) seasons.

These statistics will cause huge concern for Gary O’Neil, as the club have never lost their opening four home games in a league campaign – meaning it would be the worst home record for Wolves in history.

This form has also made its way into Wolves’ away fixtures, as they have not won from any of their opening seven league matches.

Overturning this poor form will not be an easy feat as Wolves welcome Manchester City to Molineux on Sunday afternoon – with the Premier League champions looking to maintain their unbeaten run.

However, Wolves were victorious in this fixture last season, as a goal from Hwang Hee-Chan and an Ruben Dias own goal secured a 2-1 for the home side.

When looking at the league table it makes for grim viewing if you are a Wolves fan, as Gary O’Neil’s men sit bottom of the Premier League with just one point.

In the first seven matches, they have scored nine goals an conceded a staggering 21 goals which is the worst defensive record in the league.
