Madrid shotstopper Thibaut Courtois has now revealed the truth behind Endrick’s nickname, saying it stems from Brazil’s meeting with England at Wembley back in March.
After scoring, the teenager was reported as saying England legend Sir Bobby Charlton was one of his idols.
Courtois has since sought to clear up a few details about the comments – speaking to the press in Spain, he said: “He told me that he had been misinterpreted, that what he wanted to refer to had been changed a bit, or something like that.
“I asked him about it one day and he told me that he hadn’t given that answer, that later the video was changed as if he said that he was his idol.”
Despite the original story being not what it seems, Courtois did go on to reveal Jude Bellingham is the actual reason why the nickname ‘Bobby’ has stuck.
He said: “Jude Bellingham started calling him ‘Bobby’ and well, after a while everyone does it.”
