Wednesday evening saw British tennis star Jack Draper book his spot in this year’s US Open semifinals, where a clash against his occasional doubles teammate and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner awaits.

Draper, who is ranked at a career-high No. 25 at the time of writing, has beaten Zhang Zhizhen, Facunda Diaz Acosta, Botic van de Zandschulp, Tomas Machac, and Alex de Minaur on his way to the last four, all the while without losing a set.

The 22-year-old is the first British man to reach the semifinals since Andy Murray won the competition in 2012, and many have claimed that his current US Open run resembles that of Emma Raducanu’s in 2021, when she won the competition without dropping a set as an 18-year-old.

Who Is Jack Draper?

Born in Sutton, London on 22 December 2001, and raised in Ashtead, Surrey, 22-year-old Jack Draper is taking the tennis world by storm at the minute as he prepares to take on Jannik Sinner in the 2024 US Open semifinals.

Draper is currently the British No. 1, ranked No. 25 overall, and made his foray into professional tennis back in 2018. He has since won one title on the ATP Tour, five titles on the ATP Challenger Tour, and seven on the ITF Tour.

His ATP Tour win came at the Stuttgart Open in Germany last June, where he beat Matteo Berrettini in the final, following on from defeats in the finals of the Sofia Open and the Adelaide International in the months prior.

He has enjoyed career-best finishes in all four major Grand Slams in 2024, reaching the second round in both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, the first round in the French Open, and of course, the semifinals, with potential for further advancement, at the US Open. He also participated at the Summer Olympics in Paris.

His excellent showing in New York is expected to see him rise five places up to 20th in the world rankings, but by reaching the final, he could climb as high as 14th.

Does Jack Draper Have A Girlfriend?

Draper doesn’t reveal too much about his personal life, certainly not his relationship status, however there have been rumours brewing in regards to a potential girlfriend in attendance at this year’s US Open.

Model Kate Lordahl has posted images to her 1.1 million followers on her Instagram story confirming her attendance at each one of Draper’s matches at the tournament, sparking relationship rumours on social media.

These images were not from Draper’s box though, and she hasn’t been pictured in the box either, so these could well just be unsubstantiated rumours, and Lordahl might just be a huge tennis fan.

Prior to his run at the US Open, Draper had earned a total of $2,914,754 in prize money throughout his career, with a minimum of $1 million set to be added to this sum thanks to his exploits in New York.

He also boasts sponsorship deals with major brands such as Dunlop, Nike, and Vodafone and is also a model, with reports suggesting that he’s amassed a wealth of $3 million (£2.5 million).

Of course, if he overcomes Sinner and advances to the final, a minimum of $1.8 million will be added to this total, and if he manages to win the tournament altogether, he’ll win a total of $3.6 million.

Draper does indeed come from a sporting family, and a tennis family specifically, as his brother Ben is a former professional player, while his mother, Nicky, is a former junior British champion, now turned coach.

As for his father, Roger Draper, he was the former Chief Executive of Sport England and Lawn Tennis Association, the latter being the national governing body of tennis in Great Britain, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.

He has also spent time as Chief Executive of Rugby League club Warrington Wolves and has also been the Executive Director of the Rugby League’s Super League.

Since then, he has been the Global Business Advisor to Boston Consulting Group, advising governments, federations, and sports clubs around the globe.

As well as tennis, Draper has struck up a career in modelling. He is currently signed to IMG Models, an agency that also represents Tom Brady’s ex-wife Gisele Bundchen and Heidi Klum.

Draper was featured in Vogue earlier this year wearing some big name brands, including Loewe and Louis Vuitton, with the editor of the fashion magazine, Anna Wintour, even taking up a spot in his box to watch his win over Tomas Machac in the last-16.
