Tyson Fury is set to return to the ring for a rematch against the former undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk later this year, with the bout expected to be held in Saudi Arabia once again.
Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s general entertainment authority, has confirmed that Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are due to meet in the ring for a rematch later this year.
The pair first met back in May, in which Usyk won by split decision and became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in boxing since Lennox Lewis achieved the same feat in 1999, and he also became the first ever undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.
Just a month after the fight though, the Ukrainian’s reign as undisputed champion was brought to an end after he was forced to relinquish his IBF belt for being unable to make a mandatory defence of the title. Interim belt-holder Daniel Dubois was upgraded to full champion in his place.
Following Usyk’s victory over ‘The Gypsy King’ in Riyadh, Fury made clear that he planned to trigger the rematch clause that was set out in the fight’s contract, with Alalshikh since confirming a prospective date for the bout.

Originally due to be held in October, it has now been revealed that the rematch has been pushed back to Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Confirming on X (formerly Twitter), Alalshikh wrote: “The rematch between the Undisputed Champion Oleksandr Usyk and the Champion Tyson Fury is now scheduled on the 21 of December 2024.
“The world will watch another historical fight again. Our commitment to boxing fans continues. We hope you enjoy it.”
Where Is The Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk Rematch Being Held?
An official venue for the bout has not yet been confirmed, however it is largely expected that the pair will return to the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the rematch.
This is mainly due to Alalshikh stating that the fight would take place ‘during Riyadh Season’, which is an entertainment festival held in the Saudi capital every winter since its launch in 2019.
Previous boxing events held during Riyadh Season include Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou, Anthony Joshua vs Otto Wallin & Deontay Wilder vs Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou, as well as the first fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, all held at the Kingdom Arena.
