Duran Villa Everton

Watch as Jhon Duran scores an absolute screamer from distance as Aston Villa complete the comeback against a struggling Everton, fighting back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Villa Park.

It’s more despair for Everton and their fans as for a second successive game in the Premier League, they’ve thrown away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 in dramatic fashion, this time against Aston Villa.

Prior to the international window, they led 2-0 against Bournemouth in the 86th minute but miraculously managed to lose the tie, with Antoine Semenyo, Lewis Cook and Luis Sinisterra completing the turnaround across nine minutes of play.

This time around though, the Toffees led 2-0 after 27 minutes, with Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring, but an Ollie Watkins brace with goals either side of the half drew the Villans level on home turf.

And it would be in-form Colombian Jhon Duran that would complete the comeback for Unai Emery’s side after 76 minutes, rifling in an effort from distance to take his Premier League goal tally to three for the season, securing a crucial three points for his side ahead of their Champions League campaign getting underway on Tuesday.

The goal and the victory means that Villa climb up to third place in the table, level on points with Liverpool after their defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and just three points behind leaders Manchester City.

Emery’s side have now won three of their four English top-flight matches this term, beating West Ham, Leicester and now Everton, with their sole defeat coming against Arsenal in the second gameweek of the campaign.

As for Everton, perhaps unsurprisingly, they find themselves at the bottom of the table without a point to their name. Not only that, but their goal difference sits at a worrying -9, two goals worse off than Southampton, who were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Of course, up next, Villa face a trip to Bern to take on Young Boys in Europe on Tuesday evening, but they return to Premier League action the following Saturday when they welcome Wolves to Villa Park.

The Toffees, meanwhile, have a Tuesday night Carabao Cup clash against Russell Martin’s Saints, and they’ll be hoping to gain their first league points of the season four days later when they take on newly promoted Leicester at the King Power.
