Vitaly Janelt Wonder Goal Puts Brentford Ahead At Fulham
Watch below as a thunderous long-range strike from Brentford’s Vitaly Janelt fired Brentford into an early lead at Fulham.
The German picked up the ball a full 25 yards from goal and unleashed a rocket into the bottom corner.
With Brentford’s first shot of the match, the visitors took the lead in emphatic style.
Janelt’s third Premier League goal of the season came largely against the run of play at Craven Cottage, with Fulham dominating possession in the first half.
But despite going close on a number of occasions, it took Janelt’s speculative strike from range to break the deadlock.
Brentford kept their advantage until half time, withstanding sustained pressure from the hosts.

Fulham have conceded more goals from outside the box than any other Premier League side over the last two seasons, and Janelt’s was as good as any of them.
Taking the ball from Christian Nørgaard’s pass, the midfielder had plenty of time to look up and pick his spot.
And that’s exactly what he did. After a quick glance toward goal, the 26-year-old wrapped his left foot sweetly around the ball and lashed it into the bottom corner.
The ball flew clean past fellow German Bernd Leno in the Fulham goal, making a sumptuous sound as it struck the net.
Janelt is no stranger to goals, despite his deep-lying role for Brentford.
In 172 appearances for the London outfit, he has scored 12 times while contributing 10 assists.
He joined Brentford in 2020 from VfL Bochum, having spent time in both the RB Leipzig and Hamburg academies.
A Germany youth international, Vitaly Janelt has played for each age group from U15s up to U21s.
Although yet to earn a full call-up to the senior side, if Janelt keeps scoring long-range belters it certainly won’t harm his chances.
