Victor Osimhen transfer

Victor Osimhen transfer news has dominated headlines throughout the summer, but not many could have foreseen a surprise move to Turkey. Despite completing a move to Galatasaray this week, the Nigerian international has a rare clause in his contract.

Victor Osimhen’s Transfer to Galatasaray Leaves Fans in Disbelief

Nothing signals the enormity of a transfer more than fanatical fans flooding the streets in their hundreds to welcome a new player – particularly in the early hours of the morning.

Of course, Galatasaray fans are a passionate bunch, but managing to complete a deal for arguably football’s most in-demand striker is not something they could have ever envisioned.

Such was the degradation of the relationship between Osimhen and Napoli that the club left him out of their Serie A squad, forcing the player to find a solution in the final days of the window.

The major sticking point – as has been the case for the entirety of the window – was the price. Napoli and his agent both valued him at £100m, which many of Europe’s elite were unprepared to pay – even if they did hold strong interest.

His switch to Galatasaray is only on loan but as the dust begins to settle and the hysteria of his arrival subsides, reports coming out of Turkey suggest he could leave as soon as January.

Door Still Open For Victor Osimhen to Arsenal and Chelsea

For now, the suggestion is Galatasaray is nothing more than a stepping stone for Osimhen.

Having been linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs – in particular Arsenal and Chelsea – this loan deal is salvation from a broken relationship with his parent club.

Having been so sought-after following goal-laden campaigns in Naples, a striker with the potency and relative youth of Osimhen is a rarity in the market.

At 25 there is plenty of scope for a future transfer to one of Europe’s elite, and according to reports his Galatasaray contract includes a break clause that would allow his to leave as early as January.

Fabrizio Romano also added that Osimhen’s release clause with Napoli has been lowered to €75m (£63.2m), opening the door for clubs who have bided their time to broker a cut-price deal.
