Tottenham Hotspur have likened Brennan Johnson to Brazilian legend Ronaldo in a social media post after the winger scored in a fifth consecutive match on Thursday evening.

Tottenham Liken Brennan Johnson To Ronaldo

A youthful Tottenham side came out on top against Hungarian champions Ferencvaros in Budapest on Thursday evening, with the 2-1 victory taking them up to third place in the Europa League league phase table.

It follows on from Spurs’ 3-0 win over Azerbaijani champions Qarabag in their opener last week, and they are now one of just five teams remaining in the competition to boast a 100% record after two games.

Pape Matar Sarr put Ange Postecoglou‘s side ahead after 23 minutes, and it was that man again, Brennan Johnson, who doubled the advantage in the 86th minute before Barnabas Varga pulled one back for the hosts late on.

Johnson’s goal means he has now scored in five consecutive matches for the north Londoners across all competitions, with his club likening him to Brazilian legend Ronaldo following the full-time whistle.

The Welshman’s run of goals started with a late winner against Coventry in the Carabao Cup last month, and he has since netted against Brentford and Manchester United in the Premier League, as well as in both of Tottenham’s European victories.

Johnson, whose five-goal tally already matches his entire tally from last season, is currently Spurs’ top scorer across all competitions, with summer signing Dominic Solanke following in second with two goals fewer.

Of course, the 23-year-old’s inspired form comes following his Instagram account being deactivated after he was heavily criticised by Tottenham fans for his performance in the 1-0 North London derby defeat to Arsenal last month.

The former Nottingham Forest winger will be aiming to extend his goalscoring run to six straight matches when he lines up against Brighton this weekend, and the UK’s best football betting sites have him at around 9/4 to score at anytime and at 8/1 to be the first goalscorer.
