Todd Boehly Chelsea Stakes

Todd Boehly is reportedly open to offers for a potential buyout in relation to his stakes in Chelsea Football Club.

Clearlake Capital, who are the majority shareholder’s at the club, are looking into the possibility of buying out the chairman at Chelsea – but no concrete offer or time frame has been confirmed.

The relationship between Behdad Eghbali, co-founder of Clearlake and Boehly have reportedly become increasingly sour due to a differing opinion over transfers and the stalled discussions over a new stadium.

Reports suggest that Clearlake are not looking to sell their shares in the club, but would be open to increasing their control at Chelsea.

Eghbali has been spotted at Stamford Bridge several times since taking his role at the club and has even attended Cobham training ground on a regular basis.

However, it was Boehly who was the leading face behind the £4.25 billion takeover from Roman Abramovich, who had his assets frozen over two years ago.

The American is said to be looking at potential offers for his stake in Chelsea, as he shares 38.5% with Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter.

The other 61.5% is owned by Clearlake, which is a private equity fund that is managed by Feliciano and the previously mentioned Eghbali.

Operations at Stamford Bridge have been complicated and things have been no different this season, as Chris Jurasek left his role as CEO after just 15 months in West London.

The Blues have spent over £1.2bn on 40 different players since the takeover took place in May 2022 and have broke the British transfer record on two separate occasions.

Supporters have shown a distaste towards the current transfer policy, as homegrown players like Conor Gallagher, Mason Mount and Armando Broja were forced out of the club.

Even with all this money spent, success is yet to find its way back to Stamford Bridge and the club are now on their fourth manager since Boehly & Eghbali’s tenure.

Enzo Maresca now holds the reigns, as he looks to avoid the list of managers that have been axed by the clubs’ ownership including Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino.
