St Leger Runners 2024: Irish Oaks Winner You Got To Me Supplemented

Saturday’s St Leger runners 2024 got a shot in the arm ahead of the race with the news this year’s Irish Oaks winner – You Got To Me – will now run.

The Ralph Beckett camp have forked out £50,000 to supplement their star 3 year-old filly, as she didn’t previously have an entry – but with £421,355 on offer to the winner it could be a gamble that pays off.

12 months ago in 2023, the 2nd horse won £159k, the 3rd £79k and the 4th £39k – to give you an idea where You Got Me would need to finish in order to make her supplement worthwhile.

Since her Irish Oaks win at the Curragh in July, she’s had that form reversed by the runner-up that day – who beat her last time in the Yorkshire Oaks at York.

Ralph Beckett No Stranger To Winning The St Leger With A Filly

The good news for her backers with the best horse racing betting sites in the UK is that her trainer Ralph Beckett is no stranger to winning the St Leger with a filly.

He did just that in 2015 when the Qatar Racing-owned Simple Verse took the honours under jockey Andrea Atzeni. That win remains Beckett’s sole success in the Doncaster St Leger.

Prior to Simple Verse, the last filly to win the St Leger was the Gredley-owned User Friendly back in 1992.

Hector Crouch, who rode You Got To Me to win the Irish Oaks earlier this season is expected to take the Doncaster St Leger ride.
