Ruben Amorim Gyokeres United

Ruben Amorim is likely to become the next Manchester United and he could bring a host of star names to Old Trafford including highly rated striker, Viktor Gyokeres.

The Sporting Lisbon manager has been heavily linked with the Manchester United job after Erik ten Hag was made surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Reports have indicated that United made contact with Amorim over taking the reins in Manchester and the club are set to activate his £10 million release clause at Sporting Lisbon.

Many are expecting Amorim to sign several players that he has previously worked with which will kick-start his tenure as United boss.

Signing former players does not automatically bring success as Ten Hag brought in a list of players of whom he had previous dealings with – including Lisandro Martinez, Antony, Andre Onana, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazaroui.

One standout name that could head to Old Trafford is Viktor Gyokeres who has been a revelation for Sporting Lisbon so far.

The Swedish international signed from Coventry City in July 2023 and has contributed to 76 goals in 64 games (57G +19A).

Gyokeres is not the only player that could follow Ruben Amorim to Manchester United and we have gone through some possible additions below.

Who Could Ruben Amorim Sign For Manchester United?

Viktor Gyokeres

As previously mentioned, Gyokeres is the star name in from the list of possible additions due to his performances in the Sporting colours.

The Swede has a release clause of €100 million (£83.2m) which could make a deal difficult, given United’s recent spend on strikers.

In the 2023 summer transfer window, the Red Devils spent £64m on Rasmus Hojlund and in the 2024 window they spent another £36.5m on Joshua Zirkzee.

Amorim may be looking to add a ready-made goalscorer to United’s ranks with Hojlund and Zirkzee both deemed as potential prospect signings.

Goncalo Inacio

Another signing that could be possible is Goncalo Inacio, who has become one of the brightest prospects in Europe at just 23-years-old.

The Sporting defender has become a regular in Amorim’s starting eleven and has made 184 appearances for the Portuguese side – winning two league titles in the process.

During this time, Inacio has made 23 appearances for the national team after making his international debut in March 2023.

United have looked to improve their central defensive issues with several signings, adding Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Light in recent times.

Inacio also has a release clause which has been set at around £51m, making him a tempting option should Amorim take the job at Old Trafford.

Francisco Trincao

A less likely option due to his previous spell in England, but one that is still a possibility is Francisco Trincao, who has played under Amorim at Sporting and Braga.

The Portuguese winger made 28 appearances in the Premier League for Wolves, scoring just two goals and this could deter United from committing to a deal.

However, in the 2024/25 campaign so far Trincao has contributed to eight goals in nine Liga Portugal appearances (3G+5A) which may boost United’s confidence in signing the 24-year-old.

Geovany Quenda

Finally we have Geovany Quenda, who is one of the brightest prospects in Europe at this current moment in time at just 17-years-old.

Born in April 2007, Quenda would be one of United’s youngest players alongside Harry Amass and Jack Fletcher, with Amorim showing a lot of faith in the winger so far.

His goal against Famalicao made him the youngest goalscorer in Liga Portugal history and United scouts are reportedly interested in the teenager.

Unfortunately for Manchester United’s scouts, the winger has a release clause of around £83.3m which would be an astronomical fee for a player who is yet to complete a full season in senior football.

How Would Ruben Amorim Fit Viktor Gyokeres In At Manchester United?

The Sporting manager is renowned for his highly strategical approach to football, utilising a 3-4-3 formation for large parts of his career.

His wingbacks are primarily focused on attacking to supply the forward line, but are also well-structured on the defensive formation.

Using this formation at Old Trafford would require some additions, given their limited options at left-back with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia struggling with persistent injuries.

However, it could boost their chances in front of goal which has been a huge struggled for the club this season and is where Gyokeres comes in.

The Swede could thrive of the creative supply from Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo, while also helping the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.
