Andrew found 11-4 winner Fringill Dike and had placed horses at 11-1 & 6-1 from his three picks on Thursday and has three more on Friday, August 23rd…

NEWMARKET 1.35

KATHLEEN’S GLORY (system – Gosdens, first-time hood, turf)

Since the beginning of 2014, the Gosden yard has a 24 from 70 record with their turf runners in a first-time hood and backing them blind would have returned a huge profit of £119.17 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 11.07, A/E = 2.17). Those making their racecourse debuts were seven from 20 in the same period (+£39.83) and newcomer KATHLEEN’S GLORY could be worth chancing in this 7f fillies’ novice contest.

NEWMARKET 2.10

THE LOST KING (system – Andrew Balding, second-time out 2yos, beaten 10L or less on debut)

Andrew Balding does well with his second-time out juveniles who were beaten but ran within ten lengths of the winner on their debuts. His full career score on this angle is 109 winners from 461 runners (23.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £57.39 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 89.85, A/E = 1.21). Plenty of the beaten horses reach the frame and an each-way approach is advised for THE LOST KING, who ran very green on his debut when a 25-1 ninth of 13 at Kempton earlier this month.

FFOS LAS 3.10

CALM WATERS (system – Rod Millman, first-time blinkers, fillies/mares)

In the past 15 years, Rod Millman has a ten from 45 record when using first-time blinkers on a filly or mare (expected winners = 4.12, A/E = 2.43) and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £73.23 to a £1 level stake at SP. Top weight CALM WATERS gets the headgear in this 7f handicap and she’ll be happier back on soft/heavy going after last month’s modest fifth at Sandown on good to firm.
