Milutin Osmajić Charged

Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajić has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association for allegedly biting Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck last Sunday.

The Football Association has charged Preston forward Milutin Osmajić with violent conduct for an alleged bite on Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck, which occurred when the two teams met in the Championship last Sunday.

Beck, who is on loan at Blackburn from Liverpool, was sent off in the closing stages of the tie for kicking Duane Holmes off the ball, and in response, replays showed Osmajić biting the young Welshman on his upper back.

Of course, Beck protested to the referee that he’d been bitten, but the officials were none the wiser, with Osmajić only receiving a yellow card for his role in the mini-brawl that ensued following the challenge on Holmes seconds prior.

Blackburn manager John Eustace confirmed at full-time that Beck had been left with a ‘big bite mark’ following the incident and said it was a shame that referee Matthew Donohue had not seen it occur.

As for Paul Heckingbottom, Preston’s manager, he said: “All I can say is, there no place for that [biting] and we know you can’t do that. Mistimed tackles and things like that are part and parcel of the game, you accept them.

“Anything that’s not, we know how that’s dealt with. But I’ve not seen anything so I’m just going off [the media] saying there’s an incident.”

Preston and Osmajić have until Monday, 30 September, to respond to the charge, and if found guilty, he could face a similar punishment to the 10-match ban Luis Suarez received for biting Branislav Ivanovic back in 2013.

Milutin Osmajić Charged Over Bite By FA

In a statement released by the FA Spokesperson, the violent conduct charge against Osmajić was confirmed.

“Milutin Osmajić has been charged following Preston North End’s EFL Championship game against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, 22 September.

“It’s alleged that the forward committed an act of violent conduct by biting an opponent around the 87th minute.

“Milutin Osmajić has until Monday, 30 September, to provide a response.”

Despite the formal charge, Osmajić remains eligible to feature for the Lilywhites in Saturday’s Championship clash against Millwall at the Den.
