FPL GW4 Tips

I’m Pras and welcome to my weekly series for SportsCasting, where I will be providing my thoughts on my FPL picks for each gameweek.

For context, over the last 12 seasons of FPL I have achieved four top 10k finishes, including two top 5k finishes. My seasonal average over the last seven seasons is around 21k.

Every week, I’ll be talking about the Captaincy, and 2 picks per position. One the sensible pick, the head if you will. The other is the maverick pick, or the heart. The idea is to give you two options per position to either chance it and go different or be safe and sensible.

Pras’ FPL GW4 Tips

CAPTAINCY

Head – This is the last week where we can have some assurance with Erling Haaland’s minutes. Once Champions League starts, an early sub or even a rest isn’t inconceivable.

Even though the Brentford fixture hasn’t been a hugely high scoring one for City, it’s hard to back against a man who is looking for his third hattrick on the bounce.

Heart – My heart pick this week is Eze. He is already showing to be the talisman in the Palace side, who admittedly haven’t had the best of starts. But in FPL we pick players, not teams and Eze being on all set pieces, penalties and home to an attack minded Leicester team screams goals to me.

DEFENDER

Head – Trent Alexander Arnold is on 3 consecutive clean sheets for Liverpool, and it still feels like his owners have been short changed. He deserved at least an attacking return in that run.

Another home game to a Forest team that should sit back to absorb the pressure, feels like a good game for TAA to put in the volume of crosses that someone finally gets at the end of.

Heart – Daniel Munoz has been a forgotten man, despite already having an assist to his name. Similar to the reasons with Eze above, I love the fixture this week.

Playing at right wingback in Palace’s 3-at-the-back system Munoz has a lot of license to go forward. Hopefully this is week he rewards his owners.

MIDFIELDER

Head – Mohamed Salah arguably is an equally good captaincy candidate to Haaland this week.

You may be surprised to learn that despite not scoring the hattricks his Norwegian counterpart has got, Salah is on exactly the same number of FPL points (41) as Haaland, and he didn’t even need a penalty to do it.

Heart – As mentioned in the captaincy section, Eze’s upside is huge this week. He is my maverick midfielder pick as well.
