FPL Gameweek 7 Tips

Hello FPL fans! My name is Pingreen, and I’m back to share my top FPL tips for Gameweek 7 and beyond, right here on SportsCasting. I finished 700th in the world in 2022/23 and ranked 1,330th last season, so make sure you take my advice seriously.

The bad news is this is the last weekend before yet another International Break. The good news is you’re in the right place to make sure you go out with a bang. You’re still thinking about the bad news, aren’t you?

Pingreen’s FPL Gameweek 7 Tips

Captain Pick – Haaland – £15.3m – FUL (H)

The captain choice really boils down to two players for me this week: Erling Haaland or Bukayo Saka. Both have very favourable fixtures, with Haaland taking on Fulham at home and Saka also at home to Southampton.

You can argue that Saka has the better fixture. Southampton have conceded more real goals and expected goals than Fulham this season. That being said, I think there’s an even bigger argument that Haaland is the bigger freak of nature. With 10 goals already this campaign and averaging 0.91 npxG per 90 – if it’s close between the Norwegian and someone else, I’m probably going to back City’s number 9.

Defender – Gabriel – £6.2m – SOU (H)

If you’re reading this, you’re clearly a smart FPL manager. You’ve made the conscious decision to follow my advice, and that makes you switched on. So, I shouldn’t have to tell you that Gabriel Magalhães, at home to Southampton, is one of the best defensive picks you’ll find this season.

Arsenal had the best defence in the league last season, and they’re looking just as solid this year. On top of that, every time Bukayo Saka puts in a corner, Gabriel attacks it like his life depends on it. Even in a tough away fixture at Manchester City, where Arsenal conceded twice, the Brazilian still managed to come away with seven points after converting one of those corners. It wasn’t the only one he nearly scored either.

With clean sheets likely, plenty of attacking threat from set-pieces, and favourable fixtures, Gabriel is only rivalled by Trent Alexander-Arnold as the best defender in the game at the moment.

Midfielder – Saka – £10.1m – SOU (H)

I felt bad that Saka missed out on being my captain pick; he seems like a really nice lad with a good heart. As a consolation prize, I’m going to make him my midfielder pick. I know he’ll be chuffed.

A bit like with Gabriel, you really shouldn’t need me to tell you that Saka at home to Southampton is a good pick. Southampton concede a lot of goals, the 3rd highest in the league with 12. Saka assists a lot of goals, the highest in the league with 5.

He has only scored the single goal this campaign, but he’s still averaging 0.33 npxG per 90 and should have sole penalty duty with Ødegaard not around to steal some off him. Just don’t be put off by the 80th-minute limping every game – it’s all part of the experience.

Forward – Solanke – £7.6 – BHA (A)

Dominic Solanke was in my Gameweek 1 team, and I felt great about it. An incredible goal record at Bournemouth, now leading the line for a very attacking Tottenham side, and great fixtures to open the season against Leicester and Everton.

He then proceeded to get injured for the first time since Southampton last won a Premier League game. No, but really, Solanke missed 4 games across 6 years with Bournemouth through injury, and then gets injured in his first game for Tottenham.

I digress. Now back and fit, Solanke is one of the best options for one of your forward positions in the game. He’s already scored 2 goals in the 4 games he’s started and is averaging a massive 0.93 npxG per 90. That’s level with Erling Haaland. If Son misses more time with the hamstring issue he picked up last week, Solanke also seems most likely to step up for any penalties that come Spurs’ way.

The fixtures are fantastic, starting with an away fixture to Brighton, who are missing key defenders, followed by games against West Ham, Palace, Villa, and then Ipswich. Get big Dom in your side, sit back, and get ready to enjoy some brilliant anime-inspired celebrations
