Rory McIlroy Admits PGA Tour vs LIV Golf Match Will ‘Energise The Fans’

This is the first match of its kind between the rival golf tours, with fans all over the world already buzzing about the upcoming showdown in December.

Rory McIlroy, who has been highly vocal of his criticism of the Saudi-backed golf league, admits he is excited about the match and is happy to partner Scheffler for the first time:

“I’m thrilled to partner with Scottie in what promises to be an exciting duel against Bryson and Brooks in Vegas this December,” said the Northern Irishman.

“This isn’t just a contest between some of golf’s major champions; it’s an event designed to energise the fans,” McIlroy added.

The Scheffler/McIlroy vs DeChambeau/Koepka match will be broadcast live on TNT all around the world, with the high-profile matchup seen as a sign of progress in the ongoing PGA/LIV merger discussions.

It remains to be seen whether this historic event will have any lasting impact on the ongoing rivalry between the two tours. Even if it doesn’t, it will be a compelling match between four of the best golfers in the world nevertheless.
