Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler Boasts Over 1.3 Million Instagram Followers

A little over a year ago, not a lot of people knew anything about Luke Littler. Fast forward to now, and he is the most popular professional darts player in the world, boasting the highest following on Instagram too.

Despite just being 17-years-old, ‘The Nuke’ has taken the darting world by storm and is now top of the most followed darts players list. Littler has gone from an unknown youngster with potential, the the face of professional darts in the blink of an eye.

Little boasts a grand total of 1.3 million followers on his Instagram account @lukethenukelittler. This is well over double the amount of the second most popular darts player based on Instagram followers, showing just how popular Littler is and how he is well and truly the new face of darts.

Not only is Littler the most followed darts player on Instagram by a country mile, but he is also the first professional darts player in history to hit one million. There is quite a drop from the magic million down to the next most popular darts player in terms of followers.

In a way, Luke Littler has transcended the sport of darts. It has gone from a popular game that fans loved to watch, mainly at Christmas time, to one of the most watched sports in the UK outside of Premier League football.

The way that ‘The Nuke’ shot onto the scene at the 2024 World Darts Championship at Ally Pally was quite incredible. Reaching the final on debut, only to be defeated by the most dominant player in darts right now in Luke Humphries, is quite an achievement.

Is it any wonder Luke Littler is by far and away the most followed darts player in the world right now?

Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Gabriel Clemens & Michael Smith Make Top 5 Most Followed Darts Players Globally

Luke Littler is of course head and shoulders above any of his contemporaries when it comes to popularity amongst darts players. Littler currently boasts over 750,000 more followers than the second most followed darts player – Michael van Gerwen.

‘MVG’ boasts an Instagram following of 534,000 which makes him the second most popular player in the world. Before the emergence of ‘The Nuke’, van Gerwen himself was by far and away the most popular professional darts player on the circuit.

However, with the emergence of Littler in the past year and the likes of Luke Humphries, Michael Smith and a few others now regularly beating the Dutchman, his popularity may have stalled somewhat. He is still the most successful active darts player by quite some distance, with his accolades second only to the legendary Phil Taylor overall.

The third most popular darts player based off their Instagram following is the Welshman Gerwyn Price. ‘The Iceman’ is quite a marmite character, with many fans loving him, but plenty also loathing him. Like him or not, Price is a world class darts player.

The same can be said for Michael Smith who like Price and van Gerwen is also a world champion. He rounds off the Top 5 most followed darts players in the world with 252,000 followers, just behind a somewhat shock inclusion in Gabriel Clemens.

Clemens boasts 260,000 Instagram followers which makes him the fourth most popular darts player in the world based on their social media following. He is just 46,000 behind Price (306,000), and could even break into the Top 3 if he was to win a big tournament in the coming years.
