Mark Goldbridge Salah

High-profile Manchester United fan and social media influencer Mark Goldbridge has claimed Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is the ‘most underrated player’ in the Premier League.

Following Liverpool’s thumping 3-0 win at Old Trafford on Saturday, Goldbridge was full of praise for Salah.

Speaking on former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster’s podcast, ‘The Cycling GK‘, he said there was no player in the league he would rather have.

Despite the heated rivalry between his beloved Manchester United and Liverpool, Goldbridge has frequently touted Salah as the Premier League’s top talent.

His most recent comments echo those he made in April, where he again defended Salah from criticism.

Mark Goldbridge On Mo Salah

In his latest discussion, Goldbridge took a swipe at some Liverpool fans who have said they’d be happy for Salah to leave the club.

He told The Cycling GK: “I hate Liverpool, as a Man United Fan. Liverpool hate United.

“But I’ve always said Mo Salah is so underrated. He’s the best player in the league, I’d take him over any player in that league.

“I don’t get it how some Liverpool fans – not all of them – are like ‘oh he can go in the summer’. What a player!”

Asked why a player who has scored 214 goals in 352 games for Liverpool might be seen as disrespectful by some fans, and Goldbridge argued Salah’s nationality could play a role.

He said: “I don’t know whether it’s because he’s Egyptian and not Brazilian. But he doesn’t get the respect, outside of Liverpool, in the Premier League.

“Why is he not always up for the Ballon d’Or every year? He never gets mentioned for it.

“And then Hazard at Chelsea, everyone still talks about him. He did it for two or three years, Salah’s done how many years?”

Is Mo Salah Leaving Liverpool?

Mo Salah’s contract expires in June 2025, with the forward yet to make a decision on his future.

There have been rumours of a potential move to Saudi Arabia, but the 32-year-old says he is not thinking about his contract situation at the moment.

He said: “I don’t want to think about next year. I don’t want to think about the future. Just ‘OK, let’s enjoy the last year [of my contract] and we’ll see’.”

“The most important thing is to take one day at a time and just be grateful to be here.”
