The CEO and Sporting Director at Manchester United have both come out publicly to support Erik ten Hag after a poor start to the season.

Manchester United Board Back Erik Ten Hag

Omar Berrada ( CEO) and Dan Ashworth (Sporting Director), have publicly supported the Manchester United manager after pressure has increased on the Dutchman following defeats to Brighton and Liverpool.

The Red Devils were humiliated by their fierce rivals on Sunday 31st August, losing 3-0 to Arne Slot’s side and putting in a lacklustre display.

Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro, received huge criticism after the match for losing the ball on two occasions and allowing Liverpool to score – but ten Hag was the primary focus at full time.

This has caused Dan Ashworth, who was appointed as Sporting Director at Old Trafford in July 2024, to publicly back the Manchester United.

Ashworth said (Via The Athletic): “I’ve really enjoyed working with Erik for the last eight weeks. I see my job is to support him in every way I possibly can to fully focus on the training pitch and the match tactical plan to deliver success for Man Utd”.

The former Ajax manager was tipped to leave the club at the end of the 2023/24 campaign as United recorded their worst finish in Premier League history.

However, a miraculous FA Cup final victory over Manchester City meant that the club were willing to give ten Hag an extended deal at Old Trafford.

Another member on Manchester United’s board, Omar Berrada, has also shown his faith in the Dutch coach and claims the club have full belief that he can turn things around.

The Manchester United CEO said (Via The Athletic): “Do we still believe in Erik ten Hag? Absolutely. We think Erik is the right coach for us and we’re fully backing him”

Ten Hag will have his chance to turn things around with an away fixture against Southampton after the international break – where anything other than three points will add further pressure on the 54-year-old’s shoulders.
