Mo Salah Stars In Liverpool Win

Chelsea made a strong start on their trip to Anfield, having the majority of possession and creating some strong chances through Nicolas Jackson.

Controversy came within the opening 45 minutes after Tosin Adarabioyo received a yellow card for a foul that was extremely similar to William Saliba’s red card offence against Bournemouth.

However, it was Liverpool who drew first blood as Mo Salah scored from the penalty spot following a clumsy foul by Levi Colwill on Curtis Jones.

Things looked to be going from bad to worse for the visitors, as Liverpool were awarded a second penalty for another foul on Curtis Jones by Robert Sanchez – but the decision was overturned by VAR.

Arne Slot’s side had the ball in the back of the net late in the first half, however, Cody Gakpo’s strike was flagged for offside in the build-up.

Chelsea finally got what their performance deserved in the early stages of the second half, as Nicolas Jackson slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Originally, the officials deemed the goal to be offside however a VAR review showed that the Chelsea striker was being kept onside by Ibrahim Konate’s trailing leg.

Enzo Maresca’s side were not back in the game for long, as Liverpool regained the lead just minutes after Jackson’s strike – thanks to a Curtis Jones strike.

Chelsea continued to be a threat in the second-half as Christopher Nkunku was inches away from converting a Pedro Neto cross.
