The LIV Golf Tour is over for 2024, but there are rumours of a shake-up behind the scenes with event stalwart Greg Norman set to be replaced as CEO ahead of the 2025 season.

LIV Golf Figurehead Greg Norman Rumoured To Be Replaced as CEO

Having been one of the main drivers in getting the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour off the ground and attracting some of the best players from the PGA Tour – including major winners Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka – it’s expected that Greg Norman will be replaced at LIV Golf’s CEO before the new 2025 season.

The 2025 LIV Golf season gets back underway in early February, with the opening event at Riyadh – but it’s likely the tour’s main supporter Greg Norman won’t be at the helm as CEO.

The PIF (Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia) are rumoured to be already on the search for a CEO replacement for two-time major winner Greg Norman (69), despite the leading the Australian has played in making the LIV Golf Tour a success to date.

Norman, however, is still expected to be heavily involved with LIV Golf though – with a new role set to be created once a replacement CEO has been found.

A London-based recruitment agency have been approached by the PIF to help seek out their new CEO – but the tour has already been turned down by Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark.

The LIV Golf Tour is still in ongoing and lengthy talks with the PGA Tour about a possible merger, which could be one of the reasons LIV are seeking a new CEO to help drive this through.

As well as hunting out a new CEO, LIV Golf are also expected to be in the marketplace for a new chief revenue officer and chief logistics officer.

Norman Has Divided Opinion Amongst Star Players

It’s also no secret that over the last few years of getting the LIV Golf tour to where it is today, Norman has ruffled a few feathers.

Leading PGA figures have expressed their opinion that any possible resolution to their issues with LIV golf would be better placed with Greg Norman stepping down as CEO.

While top players including Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, who have tried to be enticed to LIV Golf, have also made their thoughts clear on Norman.

“I think Greg needs to go. I think he just needs to exit stage left. He’s made his mark but I think now is the right time to say you’ve got this thing off the ground but no one’s going to talk unless there’s an adult in the room that can actually try to mend fences.” Said McIlroy

Tiger Woods also produced a similar quote

“I think Greg has to go, first of all,” adding that “And then obviously litigation against us and then our countersuit against them, those would then have to be at a stay as well.

“So then we can talk, we can all talk freely.”

Last season’s LIV Golf Individual winner, Jon Rahm has also hinted at Greg Norman being replaced as CEO.
