Nottingham Forest March Up The Table After Midlands Derby Win Over Leicester
Nottingham Forest earned a 3-1 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium and you can watch the highlights below.
A brace from Chris Wood helped Nottingham Forest secure their fourth league win of the season and Nuno Espirito’s side are now fifth in the table.
The match got off to frantic start, with both sides going from defence to attack but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock.
Club captain, Ryan Yates, stroked the ball into the far left corner from range after Facundo Buonanotte was dispossessed in his own box and James Justin failed to clear the ball.
However, Leicester managed to find an equaliser almost instantly as Jamie Vardy was quickest to react in the box to deliver a trademark finish.
Nottingham Forest appeared to have control of the game and came close to regaining their lead as Mads Hermansen produced a super save to thwart Nicolas Dominguez from just yards away.
The score was level going into the second-half, but this changed after just two minutes as Chris Wood latched onto an Elliot Anderson pass in the 47th minute.
This was the New Zealand striker’s sixth goal in the Premier League and meant that he had scored in five consecutive matches for club and country.
However, this was not the end of Wood’s impact on the game as just 13 minutes later he found the back of the net once again after a defensive error by Wout Faes.
This brace means that Wood has scored seven goals in the Premier League and showed his former side Leicester exactly what they were missing.
The Foxes had no response to Wood’s two goals and the game dwindled to a close – meaning Forest returned to Nottingham with all three-points.
