Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien continued their impressive form at the Cambridgeshire Meeting with Lake Victoria’s victory in the Cheveley Park Stakes.

A wave of late money arrived for the Frankel filly on her way to post which saw her sent off as the 6-4 favourite from as big as 11-4.

The two-year-old claimed the second Group 1 win of her career against the formerly unbeaten Babouche, who appeared very keen and likely didn’t appreciate the slower surface.

Lake Victoria found a different gear when Moore asked the question and she quickened impressively to win by three lengths with French raider Daylight in second.

Ballydoyle handler O’Brien claimed a record-breaking fifth win in the Cheveley Park Stakes and the Coolmore homebred is now four from four since her track debut in June.

She landed her first Group 1 at the Curragh two weeks ago during the Irish Champions Festival, defying odds of 11-2 to win the Moyglare Stud Stakes against well-fancied stablemate Bedtime Story.

Following her impressive performance at Newmarket, the filly out of Quiet Reflection shortened in price for a number of valuable races as per the best horse racing betting sites:

  • 9-2 to 2-1 for Group 1 Fillies’ Mile (Newmarket, 11th October)
  • 12-1 to 11-4 for Group 1 1000 Guineas (Newmarket, 4th May 2025)
  • 14-1 to 5-1 for Group 1 Oaks Stakes (Epsom, 6th June 2025)

O’Brien reflected on the win with ITV after the race and discussed what could be next for Coolmore’s newest Classic hope:

“You’d have to be delighted with her. Coming back to six furlongs was not an easy thing to do but we had it in our head before the Moyglare that she could come here.

“Ryan gave her a very uncomplicated ride, she quickened very well, she looked very impressive didn’t she?

“She could (go to America for the Breeders’ Cup), it depends on what the lads want to do really. Ryan said to come back here for the Fillies’ Mile.”
