Khamzat Chimaev Next Fight - UFC

Khamzat Chimaev’s next fight sees him face the toughest test of his career at UFC 308 against Robert Whittaker. Should he get through Whittaker, Chimaev could well be next in line for a shot at the UFC Middleweight Title in 2025.

Khamzat Chimaev Next Fight: Who Is The Undefeated Russian Fighting At UFC 308?

Despite being just 30-years-old and only having had seven UFC fights to date, Khamzat Chimaev is already one of the biggest stars in all of professional MMA.

‘Borz’ currently boasts an unblemished record of 13-0. This consists of six knockout victories, five submissions and two wins via decision. The Russian MMA phenom has won each of his seven UFC fights to date, five of which have come inside the distance.

UFC fans last saw Khamzat Chimaev in action back in July at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi. After returning to middleweight, Chimaev fought former long-reigning welterweight king Kamaru Usman. Despite winning the fight, Chimaev was heavily criticised for his performance over a short-notice opponent.

That fight was almost exactly a year ago now, with Chimaev now back in action on October 26 at UFC 308 – once again in Abu Dhabi. UFC President Dana White will be hoping for a better performance from the Russian, who many have tipped to go on to become a pound-for-pound great in the UFC.

In regards to Khamzat Chimaev’s next fight, he faces former UFC middleweight king Robert Whittaker in the co-main event at UFC 308. This is by far and away the toughest test of Chimaev’s career, against one of the most skilled fighters on the entire UFC roster.

The best UK betting sites have listed ‘Borz’ as a marginal favourite to beat Whittaker, but many people will be backing the New Zealander to hand Chimaev the first defeat of his career come fight night.

Could Khamzat Chimaev’s Next Fight After Robert Whittaker Be For The UFC Middleweight Title?

Should Khamzat Chimaev come through the Robert Whittaker fight unscathed at UFC 308, he could well be in line for a title shot next. If he beats Whittaker, particularly if he does so in emphatic style, Chimaev will not be denied a shot at UFC gold in 2025.

Whittaker is ranked at #3 at 185-pounds, with just the champion Dricus Du Plessis, Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland above him. Should the 30-year-old defeat ‘Bobby Knuckles’ in style, he could well be next in line for a shot at Du Plessis next year.

This all depends on how good Chimaev looks on at UFC 308 and whether he sustains any damage of his own. If not, he could be on for his first shot at UFC gold at some stage next year.

If the UFC Title fight doesn’t come to fruition for Chimaev, there are of course other options too. A final eliminator bout against Strickland or Adesanya could be an option, as could a fight with someone like Jared Cannonier, Caio Borralho or Nassourdine Imamov.

The best UFC betting sites in the UK would likely favour Chimaev to defeat all of these names, particularly if he looks impressive at UFC 308 against Robert Whittaker. Time will tell what happens next for ‘Borz’, but he certainly isn’t too far away from the promised land. That is for sure.

Lets hope that Khamzat Chimaev’s next fight after this one is for the UFC Middleweight Title, provided he beats Robert Whittaker in their co-main event at UFC 308.
