Jannik Sinner Doping

Still revelling in his 2024 US Open success, Jannik Sinner claims that the transition of new tennis Grand Slam champions will be ‘good for the sport.’

Sinner claimed his second major of the year after getting the bettor of Taylor Fritz in New York. All this despite the Italian’s anti-doping allegations that were making the headlines prior to the tournament.

Alongside his US Open title, Sinner also went all the way to claim the Australian Open back in January. Carlos Alcaraz landed the French Open and Wimbledon titles earlier this year.

Therefore, 2024 is the first time in 22 years that none of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray or Rafael Nadal has lifted a Grand Slam title.

Jannik Sinner Says New Tennis Champions Is ‘Good For The Sport’

After his US Open title, Jannik Sinner said: “It is a bit different, for sure. It’s something new, but it’s also nice to see – nice to see new champions, nice to see new rivalries.

“I feel it’s good for the sport to have some new champions. I always have players and I will always have players who are going to make me a better player, because there are going to be times where they beat me,” he explained.

Sinner remains at the top of the ATP rankings after a brilliant showing this year. However, he believes there is still a lot of hard work to be done heading into 2025.

“Then you have to try to find a way to win against certain players. This makes me realise that the work never stops.

“It’s always a continuous work which, in the end of the day, if you want to be a better player, you always have to work and you have to have these daily routines – accept difficult times on court,” he concluded.

Sinner will be hoping to retain his Australian Open title when the action gets underway in the new year. The best betting sites in the UK price Sinner at 3/1 to win in Melbourne.
