Ilia Topuria - UFC (1)

After securing the biggest win of his career against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298, Ilia Topuria’s next fight sees ‘El Matador’ face Max Holloway. Read on to find out when Topuria’s next fight is and what his options are moving forward in the UFC 145-pound division.

Ilia Topuria Next Fight: Who Is The UFC Featherweight Champion Fighting Next?

Despite being just 27-years-old and only having had seven UFC fights to date, Ilia Topuria is already one of the biggest stars in all of professional MMA. Not to mention the fact ‘El Matador’ is the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion.

The Ilia Topuria record is currently an unblemished 15-0. This consists of five knockout victories, eight submissions and two wins via decision. The Spanish-Georgian MMA phenom has won each of his seven UFC fights to date, five of which have come inside the distance.

UFC fans last saw Ilia Topuria in action back in July at UFC 298 in California back in February. This was of course Topuria’s crowning night, when he became UFC champion at the very first time of asking. Not only that, but he handed Alexander Volkanovski the first defeat of his career at 145-pounds. Quite remarkable.

That fight was over eight months ago now, with Topuria back in action on October 26 at UFC 308 – this time in Abu Dhabi. UFC President Dana White will be hoping for a stellar card this weekend at UFC 308, which includes some huge names such as RObert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev on the card too.

In regards to Ilia Topuria’s next fight, he faces former UFC featherweight king Max Holloway in the main event at UFC 308. This is by far and away the toughest test of Topuria’s career beside ‘Volk’, against one of the most skilled boxers on the entire UFC roster.

The best UK betting sites have listed ‘E Matador’ as a marginal favourite to beat Holloway, but many people will be backing the American to hand Topuria the first defeat of his career come fight night.

Could Ilia Topuria’s Next Fight Be Against Conor McGregor?

Should Ilia Topuria come through the Max Holloway fight unscathed at UFC 308, he could well be in line for a mega-fight next. If he beats Holloway, particularly if he does so in emphatic style, the 27-year-old could be in line for a multi-million dollar payday.

Who that is against remains to be seen. Several different fights make total sense for ‘El matador’, including the Volkanovski rematch or a potential fight with former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley if he is to move up to 145-pounds. Another contest that has been rumoured for Topuria’s next fight is against Conor McGregor.

This all depends on how good Topuria looks on at UFC 308 and whether he sustains any damage of his own. If not, he could be on for some mammoth fights in 2025. He may continue to face contenders at featherweight too, solidifying himself as one of the best pound-for-pound mixed martial artists on the planet.

The best UFC betting sites in the UK would likely favour Topuria to defeat all of these names, particularly if he looks impressive at UFC 308 against Max Holloway. Time will tell what happens next for ‘El Matador’, but first he must defeat ‘Blessed’ on Saturday night at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi.
