UK horse racing fans were hearing top commentator back behind the mircophone on Monday 9th September – the first time that the popular race caller has been back to work since his terrible family tragedy.

Racing World Delighted To Hear John Hunt Back Calling Horse Races

Exactly two months after the horrific news that shocked the horse racing world, popular commentator John Hunt has returned to work when racing fans heard him calling home the runners at Brighton races on Monday 9th September.

It was back on July 9th that Hunt’s wife Carol and two daughters Hannah and Louise were all tragically killed in a crossbow attack at their home in Hertfordshire.

This led the horse racing communtiy to set up a GoFundMe page, by popular ITV Racing pundit Matt Chapman – which has raised over £100k for John Hunt and his daughter Amy.

John Hunt was heard back behind the horse racing commentator microphone at Brighton races, when working for Sky Sports Racing on Monday.

With punters and racing industry experts on ‘X’ delighted with the news – offering John and his family many more posts of support.

Hugh Taylor posted “was out earlier this afternoon but just turned SSR on and how wonderful to hear @HuntyCaller again. Everyone’s rooting for you, John”

While Richard Farquhar added “One of the best moments in racing of recent months is hearing @HuntyCaller back with the microphone at @BrightonRace today. John, we were with you over the last few weeks, we are with you today & we will be with you in the future.”

Jess Stafford also said to her followers on the social media platform. “Wonderful to hear the voice of @HuntyCaller back at @BrightonRace”
Although life will, of course, never be the same for the Hunt family, John’s decision to return to work and what he’s good at is a clear indication he’s trying to get some ‘normal’ back into his life.
