Gianni Buttice Explains Why Having Spurs Strikers Is A MUST Ahead Of Gameweek 7
It’s in the Tottenham DNA to play attacking, front foot football and in Ange Postecoglou they recruited a manager who matches the club’s philosophy.
Under the Australian, they’re easy on the eye and whilst they might not be the tightest at the back, they always commit numbers going forward, produce lots of chances and score bags of goals.
With our currency in FPL being goals and assists, Spurs should be on the wish list of many knowing they’ve produced more big chances (26) than any other football team in the Premier League this season.
Spurs Next Fixtures (Premier League)
- Sun 6th Oct: Brighton (away)
- Sat 19th Oct: West Ham (home)
- Sun 27th Oct: Crystal Palace (away)
Chelsea and Liverpool have 24, Arsenal and Aston Villa 23 and Manchester City seven fewer than Spurs with only 19.
Over time, the team that clocks the most chances should score the most goals, especially when your team includes elite finishers aplenty so let’s rank the top five Spurs attackers.
FPL Spurs Attacking Options Ahead Of Gameweek 7
-
Dominic Solanke
Spurs number 9 and the majority of chance creation should fall his way. With 10% ownership he’s the most popular player on this list but still feels like a differential to the masses and having scored in his last 3 appearances, he’s gaining momentum fast. His price point is accessible to most and I expect him to be the most popular Spurs attacker for their good run of fixtures coming up.
-
Brennan Johnson
First choice on the right and he’s scoring FPL points for fun with 4 returns in the last 4 games. For those selling a mid-priced midfielder he’s worth strong consideration despite his early substitutions. He’s only played 90 minutes in the league once this season but is high on confidence and looking razor sharp in the final third. As well as passing the eye test, his underlying data is also impressive.
-
Son Heung-Min
Arguably the best finisher in the Premier League and consistently year on year, outperforms his XG like no other. It remains to be seen if he will be on penalties over Solanke but most expect him to get the nod. His price point however makes him difficult to buy and knowing the majority of his minutes will come wide left, and Postecoglou keeps his wingers wide, some will be put off and they prioritise other premium players.
-
Dejan Kulusevski
Thriving in his new role in this Spurs team playing in a more central creative midfield position. Effectively him and Maddison are both playing as 8’s in an attacking midfield role alongside one holder. The Swede has played 90 minutes in each of the last four league games and with 11 points last time out is playing at the top of his game.
-
James Maddison
Has had an impressive start to the season with 3 assists and 1 goal and it’s his creative numbers that set him apart. Knowing he’s over 1 million more expensive than Kulusevski and Johnson will deter a few which is understandable and why I rank him fifth.
