FPL Salah has teamed up with SportsCasting to provide you with some under-the-radar picks for Gameweek 4, including an overlooked Liverpool defender.

I’m Abdul Rehman, and welcome to my weekly series on SportsCasting. Every week I will be providing you with insight and advice to gear you up, starting with FPL Gameweek 4 tips.

This is my 18th season playing FPL, and I have finished in the top 1000 four times, with 14 finishes in the top 50,000. I also write weekly FPL articles for The Athletic and Fantasy Football Hub.

This week, I’ll be presenting my top three under-the-radar picks who I think will do well over the coming weeks.

Yankuba Minteh (£5.5m) – Brighton – 1.8% Owned

Yankuba Minteh is looking like one of the most exciting new prospects this season.

The Gambia international scored 10 goals and six assists in only 17 starts for Feyenoord last season in the Eredivisie. He’s a player with explosive potential who is capable of getting a big haul at any given moment.

The 20-year-old already has two assists to his name and is putting up some impressive performances and underlying numbers.

He has registered an xG of 0.5 and an xA of 0.9 despite tough fixtures against Everton (A), Manchester United (H), and Arsenal (A).

Brighton have looked very good under new manager Fabian Hürzeler, with two wins and a draw in their first three games – scoring six goals in the process.

Their next two fixtures are as good as they come, as they take on newly promoted Ipswich (H) in Gameweek 4 and Nottingham Forest (H) in Gameweek 5. They then play Chelsea (A), Spurs (H), Newcastle (A), and Wolves (H), which are all good fixtures for attack.

I can see Brighton scoring a fair few over this run.

Minteh’s cheap price of £5.5m makes him a great enabler, and he’s a particularly good pick if you’re planning on wildcarding in Gameweek 6.

Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.4m) – Crystal Palace – 4.2% Owned

The Frenchman had his breakthrough season last campaign with 16 goals and seven assists in only 25 starts.

From Gameweek 16, he scored 16 goals and 141 FPL points, which made him the joint-highest scoring forward during that time.

He’s nailed on to start now and one of the first names on Oliver Glasner’s team sheet. I don’t think the signing of Eddie Nketiah (£5.9m) will have a negative effect on him, as both players will likely be in the starting XI.

Mateta has failed to score in the opening three games but has a great chance to open his account against Leicester City at home next. The Eagles then have games against Man United (H) and Everton (A).

Palace haven’t looked great in their opening games, but I think they will come good sooner rather than later based on what we saw from them last term under the Austrian coach.

Similar to Minteh, he is a great differential pick if you are wildcarding in Gameweek 6, as you don’t need to keep him long-term if you don’t want to.

Andrew Robertson (£6.0m) – Liverpool – 6.4% Owned

You might be thinking this pick is not so ‘under the radar’ but the Scotsman is owned by under 7% of managers at the time of writing.

He has been unfortunate not to pick up attacking returns in the first three games, although he has still done well with three clean sheets in three.

Robertson is £1.0m cheaper than teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.0m) so is a more than able alternative if you can’t stretch to the England right-back.

Also, I wouldn’t be put off buying Robertson even if you already own Alexander-Arnold or any other Liverpool defender, as I think a double-up in defence is a good strategy for the coming weeks.

Arne Slot’s side play Nottingham Forest (H), Bournemouth (H), Wolves (A), and Crystal Palace (A) in the next four, and these are good fixtures not only for clean sheet prospects but also attacking returns for the marauding left-back.

Robertson has 11 goals and 62 assists in his nine seasons in the Premier League so we know he has plenty of attacking returns in his arsenal.
