FPL Gameweek 8 Tips

FPL General is back for another round of Fantasy Premier League tips, with our focus in Gameweek 8 being around three cheap defenders that could be season-keepers for your teams.

The international window has drawn to a close, which means it’s time to start finalising your transfers and deciding on your lineup as FPL returns for Gameweek 8.

Ahead of the action, we’re taking a look at some long-term defensive selections that could give you an edge in your leagues over the coming months.

With that in mind, here are my top three cheap defenders that have the potential to be season-keepers within your squad.

FPL Gameweek 8 Tips: Three Defenders Who Could Be Season-Keepers

Rico Lewis (Manchester City) – £4.7m

Manchester City youngster Rico Lewis is quickly becoming a must-have defender in FPL.

The 19-year-old has featured both in defence and in midfield for the reigning champions this term, starting in each of his side’s last four matches across all competitions, including City’s last two Premier League games.

Pep Guardiola hasn’t been shy in praising the talent either, stating that he can “play in all positions” and that he’s been “really, really good” in every game he has played so far this season.

Lewis also registered his second attacking return in the league prior to the international window, and with his minutes looking good going forward, we can only expect him to contribute more in the months ahead.

Leif Davis (Ipswich Town) – £4.5m

It’ll come as no surprise to those that were familiar with Ipswich Town last season, but Leif Davis is quickly proving to be a standout figure for the newly-promoted side on the left-hand side.

The creative attacking left-back has already created an impressive 17 chances this season, the most of any defender in the Premier League, and has a favourable spell of fixtures ahead between Gameweek 8 and Gameweek 17.

His addition to your FPL squads could prove valuable long-term as the Tractor Boys fight to maintain their top-flight status.

Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves) – £4.4m

Despite a tricky run of fixtures for Wolves so far this season, Algerian left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri boasts an impressive two goals and two assists across the opening seven gameweeks.

This includes goals in back-to-back gamweeks prior to the international window, with the 23-year-old netting against Liverpool and Brentford while also providing one of his assists against the latter.

Gary O’Neil has also deployed Ait-Nouri in left-midfield, which opens the door to potentially even more attacking returns, and at £4.4m, he certainly has the potential to be a profitable asset.
