FPL Tips Gameweek 4

Gameweek 4 of the 2024/25 Premier League season is on the horizon, and FPL General is back with some tips ahead of the action, including why you should focus your free transfers on Liverpool players.

I’m FPL General, and I’m back with some FPL tips alongside SportsCasting for you to consider ahead of Gameweek 4.

My FPL experience spans across 20 years, and I’ve achieved three Top 500 finishes throughout that time.

With that being said, let’s jump straight into my tips for Gameweek 4.

FPL General’s Gameweek 4 Tips

Focus Free Transfers On Liverpool Assets

If you’re not wildcarding in Gameweek 4 and are using free transfers instead, make sure to bring in some Liverpool assets, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Andy Robertson.

The Reds have started the season perfectly, winning three from three without conceding a goal, and their next three fixtures are against Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, and Wolves, so there’s plenty of points up for grabs.

A potential Liverpool differential that has caught my eye too is Dominik Szoboszlai. The attacking midfielder has been seriously impressive throughout the first three gameweeks, especially when he assisted against Manchester United last time out, and he was Hungary’s standout player in their recent pair of Nations League matches.

I think transferring in the 23-year-old could prove worthwhile for their upcoming fixtures.

Bench Arsenal Defenders For North London Derby

If you have decent options on your bench, it may be worth considering dropping your Arsenal defenders.

A clean sheet seems highly unlikely for Mikel Arteta’s side against Tottenham, who have scored six goals this season, with several key players missing out on the derby clash.

Both Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori suffered injuries on international duty, with Declan Rice being suspended after his red card against Brighton, while all of Mikel Merino, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Jesus, and Kieran Tierney are also expected to miss out through injury.

Tottenham’s pacey attacking players, such as Heung-min Son, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, and Wilson Odobert, may cause the Gunners problems, and the potential return of Dominic Solanke could also be a cause for concern.

Hand Erling Haaland The Captaincy

Not much explanation is needed on this one; simply make Erling Haaland your Gameweek 4 captain.

The Norwegian already has seven goals in the Premier League this term, including back-to-back hat-tricks against West Ham and Ipswich, and even netted on international duty in a 2-1 win over Austria.

A home tie against Brentford awaits this weekend, a fixture in which he scored last term, so it’s a no-brainer to make him your captain.

Build Your Core If Wildcarding In GW4

If you’ve decided to wildcard in Gameweek 4, build your squad around a core of Alexander-Arnold, Salah, a third Liverpool player, Eberechi Eze, Bryan Mbeumo, a Brighton attacker, and Ipswich Town’s Leif Davis.

The Liverpool picks, of course, are no-brainers, while Eze, Mbeumo, and Davis have all provided attacking returns in recent weeks, with the latter being a strong £4.5m option for your defence.

A Brighton attacker may also be a worthwhile pick, with upcoming fixtures against Ipswich and Nottingham Forest. Both Joao Pedro (£5.7m) and Danny Welbeck (£5.7m) have impressed thus far this term, scoring two goals apiece across the Seagulls’ opening three games.
