Nkunku Chelsea

FPL pundit Holly Shand has teamed up with SportsCasting to provide you with some Gameweek 3 tips, and she thinks it’s time to sell Christopher Nkunku if you haven’t done so already.

Hey FPL managers!

Holly Shand here, bringing you some advice for navigating Gameweek 3. You might know me from my YouTube channel, where I’ve got over 30,000 subscribers, or perhaps you’ve seen my articles for The Athletic. I’m also a regular contributor to Sky Sports and the FPL Green Room Pod, so hopefully you’re familiar with my FPL takes!

If not, to provide you some background, I am FPL pundit who has played the game for over eight years. I have finished in the Top 100k on six occasions, twice finishing in the Top 10k. I am also a regular guest on the Premier League’s official FPL Show.

This week, we’ll be looking at three key decisions: who to ditch, who to hold, and who to captain. Let’s dive in!

Three Tips For FPL Gameweek 3

Sell Christopher Nkunku

Christopher Nkunku (£6.4m) pulled in plenty of interest from FPL managers ahead of the season – he played the most pre-season minutes of any Chelsea player, with three goals and one assist to show for himself. He looked like an underpriced bargain who could match the more expensive Cole Palmer.

However, the start of the FPL season couldn’t have gone any worse. He’s played just 64 minutes across their two opening games, for a grand total of two fantasy points and now he’s suffered a price drop to boot. The fact that he only emerged from the bench after Chelsea put six past Wolves was the final straw.

Over half a million managers have already shipped him out for Gameweek 3, with his ownership dipping below 10%. If you still own him you should absolutely look to sell before the deadline.

While team-mate Noni Madueke (£6.5m) seems a sound choice after his hat-trick last time out, there are doubts. is tempting after his hat-trick, Chelsea’s squad depth makes most of their players rotation risks, besides Cole Palmer. I would suggest looking elsewhere, with Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma (£6.6m) the form pick and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers (£5.1m) the fixtures pick.

Keep Eberchi Eze

Another player who has seen over 500,000 transfers out ahead of the FPL Gameweek 3 deadline is Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze. He’s disappointed the 30% of managers who started the season with him, scoring just four points with no goal involvements.

However, when you scratch the surface, there’s plenty of positives to take from his performances. He’s had the most shots (12) of any Premier League player this season, with a refereeing error incorrectly ruling out his superb free-kick against Brentford on opening weekend. He has been unlucky to not deliver.

Eze trolled his owners again with a goal and an assist in the League Cup on Tuesday night – perhaps being a warning sign for his FPL owners to hold onto him for a while longer. The Chelsea defence look vulnerable and then he has two home games coming up, including Leicester City in Gameweek 4.

Captain Erling Haaland

Gameweek 4 presents an intriguing round of fixtures, causing a tricky captaincy choice. Liverpool travel to Manchester United, Newcastle entertain Tottenham while Manchester City play West Ham away.

In my view, Erling Haaland (£15.1m) remains the standout captain candidate this week. He’s started the season on fire with four goals from two games. Plus, the Norewegian has a great record against the Hammers too, scoring four goals in four appearances against them.

The dilemma of who to captain is far more difficult for those without the Manchester City striker in their team. Based on his performance in Gameweek 2, I’d lean towards Cole Palmer as the best of the rest for the visit of Crystal Palace. He offers plenty of routes to points, and is the primary penalty taker for Chelsea.
