Former Manchester United Defender Rio Ferdinand Questions Erik Ten Hag’s Rotation Decisions as Marcus Rashford’s Form Returns

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has questioned Erik ten Hag’s “confusing” rotation decisions surrounding Marcus Rashford against Crystal Palace.

Rashford, who recently ended a goal drought and impressed in the Carabao Cup, was left on the bench until the 61st minute against Palace.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand questioned the timing of the rotation, arguing that it could disrupt Rashford’s momentum and confidence.

“When you’ve got a man in form like Marcus Rashford, who’s coming into a bit of form and momentum, which is key for any player and their confidence, I’m thinking, is it the right time now to rotate?” Ferdinand said on his YouTube show.

“We’re creating chances, and you take out the guy who is actually starting to score. I just look at that and think, wow.”

While Ten Hag defended his decision, citing player rotation due to a congested fixture schedule, Ferdinand believes it could be a setback for Rashford, who may feel confused after regaining his scoring touch.

“I think he will be sitting there thinking, ‘I’ve just hit a bit of form, and they’ve taken me out,'” Ferdinand added.

However, Ferdinand acknowledged the complexity of the situation, noting that Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo have also been in impressive form, making Ten Hag’s selection dilemma even more difficult.

As Ten Hag continues to manage his squad’s workload, it remains to be seen whether Rashford will return to the starting lineup for United’s upcoming Europa League clash against FC Twente.
