With the new Premier League season looming and FPL players eyeing up their new teams, here at Sportscasting we asked the betting experts to price up which players are likely to get the most Fantasy Football points in each of the four positions during the 2024/25 campaign.

Betting Experts Reveal Which Fantasy Football Players Will Top Score In 2024/25

With just days to go now before the new Premier League season starts on Friday 16th August, Fantasy Premier League fans will be beavering away aligning their new teams to go to war with.

The good news for players is the official www.fantasy.premierleague.com site will allow unlimited transfers right up until 18:30pm on Friday 16th August – which is just 1 1/2 hours before the curtain raiser match between Manchester United and Fulham at Old Trafford.

Therefore, even if you’ve already picked your 15 players to represent your cleverly thought out team name, there is still plenty of time to chop and change your squad.

With that in mind, it’s certainly worth taking note on which players the betting experts are pricing up to land the most points across each of the four positions – and you might be surprised to hear that ALL of the leading points takers from last season are NOT favourites to repeat the feat.

FPL Goalkeepers: Raya Expected To Keep The Most Clean Sheets

Fantasy Premier League 2024/25 Odds: Betting Experts Reveal Who Will Be The Highest Scoring Players

  • David Raya (Arsenal, £5.5m) 5/1
  • Alisson Becker (Liverpool, £5.5m) 6/1
  • Jordan Pickford (Everton, £5m) 15/2
  • Andre Onana (Man Utd, £5m) 8/1
  • Ederson (Man City, £5.5m) 9/1
  • Nick Pope (Newcastle, £5m) 9/1
  • Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa, £5m) 11/1
  • Bernd Leno (Fulham, £5m) 14/1
  • Alphonse Areola (West Ham, £4.5m) 16/1
  • Mark Flekken (Brentford, £4.5m) 20/1

(Jordan Pickford top scored in 23/24 with 153 pts)

Arsenal’s David Raya seems to have claimed the keeping top spot at the Gunners off Aaron Ramsdale and so he’s sure to be popular in most fantasy football teams.

In fact, Raya, who racked up 135 points last season, has already made it into 23% of fantasy teams and you feel that figure will only rise in the coming days as more sides enter.

Next best in terms of % keeper picks so far, is last season’s top points scorer – Jordan Pickford – who rewarded his backers with a stonking 153pts over the last campaign. At £0.5m cheaper than Raya, then making Jordan your ‘pick’ will also free up some much-needed funds for the outfield players.

The betting experts are saying Liverpool’s Alisson Becker is second favourite to top score from the keepers, but at the moment only 10.9% of FPL players agree.

Of slightly cheaper keepers, it’s Brentford’s Mark Flekken that could represent come value at 20/1 – the Danish stopper amassed 119 points last term and barring injuries is sure to start every game for the Bees.

It seems many FPL fans are agreeing too as he’s already in 14.1% of teams.

FPL Defenders: Odds Suggest Trent Is Your ‘Must-Have’ Defender

Fantasy Premier League 2024/25 Odds: Betting Experts Reveal Who Will Be The Highest Scoring Players

  • Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool, £7m) 6/1
  • William Saliba (Arsenal, £6m) 9/1
  • Kieran Trippier (Newcastle, £6m) 10/1
  • Ben White (Arsenal, £6.5m) 11/1
  • Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool, £6m) 14/1
  • Josko Gvardiol (Man City, £6m) 16/1
  • Pedro Porro (Tottenham, £5.5m) 20/1
  • Gabriel (Arsenal, £6m) 25/1
  • Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton, £5m) 25/1
  • Kyle Walker (Man City, £5.5m) 28/1

(Ben White top scored in 23/24 with 182 pts)

The odds on the top scoring defenders are mirroring their values, with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is the most expensive at £7m is also being tipped to grab the most points be the betting experts as 6/1 favourite. The England man is also already in 21.7% of teams.

At just £0.5m cheaper, Ben White is on offer at 11/1 to be the highest-scoring defender and considering he managed this last season with 182 points there looks to be some value here. A similar haul of points looks on the cards, but players might be slightly wary of their new summer signing Calafiori, which might lead manager Arteta to tinker with his backline more.

At the time of writing, however, it’s another Arsenal player – Saliba – who is featuring in most teams (40.3%) and he also managed 42 points more than Trent last season – beating the Liverpool defener by 164 to 122 fantasy football points

Yet another Gunner in Gabriel looks value at 25/1 after managing 149pts last season, but the player a lot of teams seem to have on their radar now is City’s Josko Gvardiol – with 32.6% selected.

The Croatian defender is 16/1 to be the top scoring defender, according to the experts and you feel he can only improve on his 123pts from last term as he enters his second season in the English top-flight.

FPL Midfielders: Saka To ‘Out-Gun’ The Midfielders, Say Betting Experts

Fantasy Premier League 2024/25 Odds: Betting Experts Reveal Who Will Be The Highest Scoring Players

  • Bukayo Saka (Arsenal, £10m) 5/1
  • Phil Foden (Man City, £9.5m) 6/1
  • Cole Palmer (Chelsea, £10.5m) 8/1
  • Mo Salah (Liverpool, £12.5m) 10/1
  • Hyeung Min Son (Tottenham, £10m) 14/1
  • Jarrod Bowen (West Ham, £7.5m) 16/1
  • Kevin DeBruyne (Man City, £9.5m) 20/1
  • Martin Odegaard (Arsenal, £8.5m) 25/1
  • Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd, £8.5m) 28/1
  • Anthony Gordon (Newcastle, £7.5m) 33/1

(Cole Palmer top scored in 23/24 with 244 pts)

Bukayo Saka, who fired in 16 league goals last season for Arsenal, comes out top of the midfielders with the betting experts at 5/1 and it’s easy to see why.

Saka managed to get 226pts for FPL followers last season and already just over a quarter (25.5%) of teams have the England winger in their sides.

However, Saka was outpointed last season by Cole Palmer with 244pts and despite being £0.5m more, the Chelsea midfielder looks a decent price at 8/1 to come out with the most points in this position again.

Palmer fired in 22 league goals last term and only a certain Erling Haaland out-scored him with 27.

Add in that Palmer will be taking the bulk of the Chelsea penalties (scored 9 last season), plus also have an array of assists up his sleeve, then it’s no shocker to already seeing him figure in just under half (48.3%) of the Fantasy Football teams.

Of the rest, Phil Foden is second favourite with the experts to top score at 6/1, but we all know City boss Pep Guardiola loves to chop and change his sides from week-to-week. That said, despite this Foden still managed a cracking 230pts last term – which was the second best on offer.

Hyeung Min Son, with 213pts last season, Mo Salah with 211pts and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon with 183pts are others to note in the betting – all at tasty double-figure prices.

FPL Forwards: Haaland The Big Forward Favourite

Fantasy Premier League 2024/25 Odds: Betting Experts Reveal Who Will Be The Highest Scoring Players

  • Erling Haaland (Man City, £15m) 6/4
  • Alexander Isak (Newcastle, £8.5m) 9/1
  • Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa, £9m) 10/1
  • Cody Gakpo (Liverpool, £7.5m) 12/1
  • Ivan Toney (Brentford, £7.5m) 14/1
  • Kai Havertz (Arsenal, £8m) 20/1
  • Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea, £7.5m) 25/1
  • Darwin Nunez (Liverpool, £7.5m) 28/1
  • Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth, £7.5m) 33/1
  • Jean-Phillipe Mateta (Crystal Palace, £7.5m) 33/1

(Ollie Watkins top scored in 23/24 with 228 pts)

No prizes from the betting experts here – with City’s Erling Haaland the big 6/4 favourite to FPL top score from the forwards next season.

The Norwegian hit the back of the net 27 times last season (7 pens) and managed to get 217pts for the FPL teams that selected him.

However, let’s not forget Haaland also missed a fair few league games with injury last season and it was due to this that Villa’s Ollie Watkins out-pointed him in Fantasy Football last season with 228pts.

Watkins, who heads into the new season off the back off a solid Euros with England, will cost £6m less than Haaland and the surprising thing at this stage is that the Villa hitman is in MORE FPL teams than Haaland – 50.6% to 41.5% as it stands.

These two were the only two strikers that scored more than 200 FPL points last season, with Havertz (180pts), Solanke (175pts) and Isak (172pts) the three next best.

Overall, it’s hard to see a fully fit Haaland being beaten in this market, but the 6/4 on him doing so looks a very skinny price – you are basically wagering on the City man staying fit.

If he does, he wins, but if he doesn’t – the top scoring forward is there for the taking – with Watkins, who actually scored 8 league goals less than Haaland (19), looking exceptional value at 10/1.
