Erling Haaland Voted August Premier League Player of the Month

Manchester City striker and Premier League top scorer Erling Haaland has, unsurprisingly, secured the Premier League Player of the Month award for August after scoring seven goals in three matches.

This tally includes an impressive two hat-tricks, which came back-to-back against Ipswich and West Ham in Gameweek 2 and 3, following on from his first goal of the campaign against Chelsea in Gameweek 1.

Haaland’s exploits see him win the award for an impressive third time, having also won it in August 2022 and April 2023, beating Bryan Mbeumo, Amadou Onana, Cole Palmer, David Raya, Bukayo Saka, Mohamed Salah and Danny Welbeck to the accolade.

The Cityzens currently sit at the top of the Premier League table boasting a 100% record, level on points, with Haaland inspiring the reigning champions to 2-0, 4-1 and 3-1 victories prior to the international window.

Haaland: “I Am Delighted, But I Will Continue To Work Hard To Improve”

Speaking to the Manchester City website after winning the award, Haaland revealed his delight at being named August’s Premier League Player of the Month.

“I am delighted to have won this award so early in the season and would like to thank everyone who voted for me, I am also very grateful to my team-mates, the coaches and staff for helping to make it happen.

“August was a brilliant month for the team, and I am proud to have played an important part in that.

“To have scored seven goals last month in three matches is great, but I will continue to work hard and improve my game.”

City now face a busy stretch in which both their Champions League and Carabao Cup campaigns get underway, and Haaland touched on the importance of building a strong foundation ahead of their involvement in these competitions.

“We have given ourselves a great foundation to build on now going into a busy period with the Champions League and Carabao Cup starting.

“I hope I can continue to help the team get the wins and keep us pushing in all the competitions.”

Up next for Haaland and City, is a Premier League clash against Brentford on Saturday afternoon, where the Cityzens are heavily favoured to win among the best football betting sites at around 1/5, while the Norwegian is 1/2 to add to his seven goals this term by scoring at anytime during the match.
