England vs Greece (Thurs 10th October, 2024)

England will take on Greece on Thursday 10th October in the Nations League at Wembley. This will be the tenth time the sides have met.

In total the nations have met nine times and England have never lost to Greece. Winning seven and drawing twice.

England and Greece last played on 16th August 2006, in an International Friendly that ended in a 4-0 win to the Three Lions.

While England’s most famous clash with Greece came in 2001 in a World Cup Qualifier, when David Beckham scored a dramatic late free kick to help them qualify for the Japan/Korea Finals the following summer.

Finland vs England (Sun 13th October, 2024)

England travel to Finland for their next Nations League game on Sunday 13th October. Coming just three days after facing Greece.

The Three Lions have played Finland 12 times in the past – winning 10 and drawing twice. Therefore, are another nation they’ve never lost to in international football.

Lee Carsley’s side last faced Finland on Tuesday 10th September at Wembley Stadium – with England winning 2-0 that’s to a brace from Harry Kane, on what was also his 100th cap (watch below).

This next game will be played at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium and the last time England played away in Finland was in 2000. Which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Greece vs England (Thurs 14th November, 2024)

Into November, and it’s the return leg of their October fixture against Greece. This time away at the Athens Olympic Stadium on 14th November.

As mentioned, Greece are a side England have never lost to. However, of course, they would have played them a month earlier in this competition so that could, in theory, have changed by the time this match comes around.

England last played Greece away in June 2001 – with the Three Lions winning 2-0.

England vs Rep of Ireland (Sun 17th November, 2024)

The final England Nations League game in their group will be against the Republic Of Ireland on Sunday 17th November 2024 at Wembley Stadium.

England won the first leg of this fixture 2-0 back in September, thanks to strikes from Jack Grealish and Declan Rice. Who both famously turned down the option to play internationally for Ireland.

This will be the 62nd time England and Ireland have played.

With England holding a commanding head-to-head lead with 48 wins, 9 draws and just four wins for Ireland.

How Does The Nations League Work After The Group Stage?

There are 54 countries competing in the Nations League, who are split into groups.

Then the top two sides from each group will progress to the knockout stages.

The draw for the knockout stages will take place on November 22nd. The first games will be played between 20th-25th March 2025.

Nations League semi-finals will be played on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th June 2025. With the Nations League Final on the 8th June.

There is also losing semi-finalists contesting, with a third/fourth game played on the same day as the final.
