EA FC 25 Worst Reviewed football game ever

Less than two weeks after its official release date, EA FC 25 is officially the worst-reviewed football game ever released by the company.

There have been numerous issues and problems reported since EA Sports released this year’s edition of their flagship football game.

Known for years as ‘FIFA’, EA dropped that name in 2024 after failing to reach a new licensing agreement with the sport’s global governing body.

For some years now, there has been a sense of minimal improvements in successive titles.

But now the reviews are starting to reflect fans’ disappointment, with the new game achieving the lowest Google audience rating in the series’ history.

A lack of improvements on last year’s game, countless bugs and gameplay issues and the continued yearly increase in micro-transactions have left players fuming.

The neglect of popular offline game modes in favour of the money-spinning Ultimate Team mode has left a bitter taste in the mouths of lots of fans.

But those are just some of the many reasons the game has tanked on the review front.

Why Is EA FC 25 The Worst Reviewed Game In FIFA/EA FC History?

Below we have listed just some of the numerous reasons why EA FC 25 fans are less than pleased with the game.

As well as these, basic game mechanics such as passing, tackling and shooting have come under fire.

Players have argued that the game feels clunky and unresponsive, with a big delay between controller input and the game registering it.

Career Mode Once Again Ignored

Offline players have been neglected for years when it comes to FIFA/EAFC. Despite being a hugely popular game way to play, Career Mode has once again seen little improvement from last year.

A lack of depth, laggy menus and limited features have all been mentioned by fans.

The idea of managing your favourite club to glory is one that lots of players enjoy, but it seems EA have been more interested in online game modes which they can use to generate more revenue through micro-transactions.

Numerous Issues and Bugs

For a flagship sports game with such a huge budget, there have been far too many bugs reported.

Slow loading speeds, awkward menus and a frustrating UI are just the tip of the iceberg this year.

There have been countless examples like these posted on social media by disgruntled fans.

Players teleporting out of position, the ball phasing through players’ legs and seemingly broken AI are all being pointed out online.

Rush Mode Gets Mixed Reviews

A much-hyped new game mode for this year if EA FC 25’s Rush Mode.

EA have described Rush Mode “a new way to play and win together. With smaller squads to build, more time on the ball, and new, custom-designed communication tools, Rush keeps you closer to the action.”

But while some are pleased with the addition, others have little interest in the mode.

Replacing the old ‘Volta’ game mode for small-sided matches, Rush offers little to the solo player, who more likely just wishes EA spent their time optimising the core game modes.

Poor Reviews Starting To Affect Sales

While EA FC 25 was the best-selling game in the UK for September, sales have dropped since last year.

Launch sales for FC 25 are 4.6% down on the same period for FC 24, and these negative reviews will only reduce sales further.

While many of the issues described by players can be patched, there is growing anger at EA for releasing such a poor base game.

Games such as EA FC are of course designed to make huge amounts of money for the developers, but it appears a focus on profit over player satisfaction is coming back to bite EA.

It remains to be seen whether they will heed the community’s concerns, but they may be in danger of rapidly losing sales if they ignore the complaints of their core player base for long.
