Borussia Dortmund Fans React Bitterly To Jurgen Klopp Taking New Red Bull Job, Label Former Manager A ‘Sell-Out’
Jürgen Klopp’s decision to become Red Bull’s Head of Soccer in January 2025 has ruffled the feathers among Borussia Dortmund fans.
The former Liverpool manager, who is revered as a legend at the Westfalenstadion, has faced criticism for joining the Red Bull organisation, which owns RB Leipzig, a rival club in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund fans have expressed disappointment and anger at Klopp’s move, citing his previous stance on multi-club models and his strong association with Dortmund.
Many have accused him of hypocrisy and selling out, given his history of criticising clubs like RB Leipzig.
Twitter Reacts To Klopp Taking Red Bull Job
One Dortmund fan took to X to express their frustration: “I have something positive from the #Klopp message for you: In Dortmund, it is now finally possible to emotionally close the Jurgen Klopp era. No more nostalgic moaning that is hindering the current sporting process.”

Another fan agreed, saying: “There is one positive aspect to the whole thing. The topic #Klopp is now history at #BVB at the latest. No more coach comparisons a la “next Klopp”, no more whining afterwards.”
However, not all Dortmund fans share the same sentiment. Some have defended Klopp’s decision, arguing that it’s a natural progression in his career and that it doesn’t diminish his legacy at the club.
Regardless of the differing opinions, Klopp’s move to Red Bull has undoubtedly caused a stir in German football. It remains to be seen how Dortmund fans will react to his new role and whether their feelings towards him will change over time.
Given Borussia Dortmund's complete rejection of the Red Bull model of club whitewashing, and Jurgen Klopp's long history there, it's a bit disappointing and dispiriting to see him lead that project as its flagship employee.

#Klopp is a sell-out. Congrats you destroyed your legacy in 24h I hope in Liverpool, Dortmund and Mainz you’ll get booed out of the stadium. https://t.co/eIuQUxiqf6

From leading historic well-supported clubs in Dortmund and Liverpool to now joining Red Bull multi-ownership, this is probably the most shocking thing Klopp could have done https://t.co/6wKsFfePnf
