Dillian Whyte has weighed in on the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, declaring it a “50-50 fight.”

The former WBC interim champion believes that the oddsmakers have underestimated Dubois and that the fight is far more evenly matched than many anticipate.

While Whyte acknowledges Joshua’s early advantage, he warns that if the fight extends beyond the fourth round, the momentum could swing in Dubois’ favour. He highlights Joshua’s struggles to handle pressure in the later rounds – a weakness that Dubois could exploit.

The massive crowd at Wembley Stadium is expected to overwhelmingly support Joshua, but Whyte believes that this may not be a significant factor.

He praises Dubois’ ability to follow instructions and remain focused, even in the face of adversity. This unwavering determination, according to Whyte, makes Dubois a dangerous opponent.

“People say he’s the underdog, but I don’t think he’s an underdog. I think it’s an equal fight,” Whyte told talkSPORT Boxing. “It’s one of those fights where it’s a 50-50 fight.”

Whyte’s assessment challenges the prevailing narrative that Joshua is a clear favourite. He argues that Joshua’s recent opponents have been relatively easy, allowing him to rebuild his confidence.

However, Whyte warns that Dubois poses a much tougher challenge and could capitalise on any vulnerabilities.

“Early on, dangerous for Dubois, but if he gets past three or four rounds, I think it becomes very dangerous for AJ, as we saw in the Andy Ruiz fight,” Whyte said. “AJ doesn’t deal well with pressure late in fights.”

Ultimately, Whyte believes that the outcome of the fight will hinge on Joshua’s ability to land a decisive knockout early. If he fails to do so, Dubois’ determination and ability to handle pressure could give him the edge.
