Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Preview, Prediction, Team News and Confirmed Lineups
Tottenham return to Premier League action with a trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on Sunday, and we’ve got the latest team news and confirmed lineups ahead of the clash, and a score prediction included in our preview.
Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Preview
Four fixtures make up the Premier League‘s Super Sunday this week, and one of those is an all-London affair as Crystal Palace welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Selhurst Park in one of three 14:00 kick-offs.
Oliver Glasner’s Eagles head into the clash having underwhelmed thus far this season. They are one of just four teams in the division yet to record a league victory and find themselves in 18th place after eight games.
Since playing out a goalless stalemate against Manchester United last month, Palace have lost three games in succession, suffering narrow defeats to Everton, Liverpool and, last time out, Nottingham Forest.
You’d have to go all the way back to the final day of last season to find their last English top-flight win, which came in the form of a 5-0 battering of Aston Villa thanks to an Eberechi Eze double and a Jean-Philippe Mateta hat-trick.
Spurs, meanwhile, are seventh in the table and have won seven of their last eight matches across all competitions.
Ange Postecoglou’s side made slight work of West Ham last weekend with a 4-1 win and followed that up with a 1-0 win against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Tottenham have gotten the better of Palace on several occasions in the last few seasons, boasting an incredibly strong record against the South London outfit, having prevailed in each of their last five league meetings.
Crystal Palace Team News
The Eagles are without all of Chadi Riad (knee), Chris Richards (thigh) and Matheus Franca (groin) through injury, while Cheick Doucoure has also been ruled out as he is suffering with an ankle problem.
Rob Holding, formerly of Arsenal, remains out of contention also. The central defender has been frozen out of the squad by Glasner, and he’s having to train individually away from the first team.
Tottenham Team News
Spurs skipper Heung-min Son will miss out on the trip to Selhurst Park. The South Korean was rested in midweek after taking a knock against West Ham, but Postecoglou has now confirmed that he is unavailable for Sunday.
Son joins Djed Spence (groin) on the sidelines, and his absence opens the door for either Timo Werner, Mikey Moore or Wilson Odobert to start on the left-hand side.
Lucas Bergvall was also a doubt after being withdrawn early against Alkmaar on Thursday, and is named among the replacements.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Prediction
Spurs’ strong form as of late, Crystal Palace’s winless start to the campaign, and the pair’s head-to-head record over the last few years point to one thing, and one thing only – a Tottenham victory.
Son’s absence comes as a blow to Postecoglou’s side, of course, but as they have proven in recent weeks, they are able to perform without their talisman, winning three of their last four matches where he’s been unavailable.
The UK’s best football betting sites are favouring Tottenham to claim all three points at Selhurst Park this weekend, and we agree with the bookmakers’ assessment of the tie and expect Spurs to come out on top fairly comfortably.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-2 Tottenham
