The ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor lost $500,000 after Francis Ngannou won by knockout against Renan Fereira on the Cameroonian’s PFL debut.

Conor McGregor Loses $500k Bet Over Francis Ngannou KO

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion made his comeback to the sport of MMA on Saturday 19th October, as Ngannou took on Ferreira at PFL Super Fights: Battle of the Giants in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ngannou was the heavy favourite on the majority of UK betting sites and his performance showed exactly why, as he won by stoppage in the first round and became the inaugral PFL Super Fight heavyweight champion.

This was Ngannou’s first MMA fight since he defended his UFC Heavyweight title against Cyril Gane in January 2022.

However, the 38-year-old had maintained some sort of activity during his time away from the cage, as he ventured into boxing with bouts against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua – losing on both occasions.

Another star built in the UFC, Conor McGregor, was heavily interested in the PFL Heavyweight fight – placing $500k on Ferreira to win by knockout.

On a Twitter voice note, McGregor said:  “Tonight’s bet for me. 500k on Ferriera to win by KO at 12/5. $1.7m return.”

The Irishman has been on a run of successful bets in recent months and went on to boast about this fact – claiming to have a 100% ratio.

McGregor went on to brag about his recent run of form in sports betting with an accompanying voice note.

He said: “Okay, folks, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor here. It’s Fight night, fight night, fight night. The Mac is back with his winning bets. I have a 100% winning ratio on these bets.

“Ngannou is losing by KO tonight. 12/5 the Brazilian is to knock him out and I’m putting half a million on it and I’m going to win back $1.7 million.

“That’s it. It’s a ruthless business and I’m a ruthless man.”

The MMA superstar proved that he had made such a colossal bet, as he uploaded an image of the $500k stake – which would have seen a return of $1,675,000.
