Chris Sutton Premier League Predictions

Football pundit and former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has delivered his predictions for this weekend’s Premier League action, and he’s backing Tottenham to topple a depleted Arsenal in Sunday’s North London derby.

Speaking in his BBC Sport column, Chris Sutton has predicted the outcome of all 10 Premier League Gameweek 4 fixtures, and the former England international is backing Liverpool, Manchester City, and Brighton to maintain their unbeaten starts, while he also expects Tottenham to defeat an injury-stricken Arsenal on Sunday.

Chris Sutton Backing Tottenham In North London Derby

Sunday’s clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is undoubtedly the standout fixture in the Premier League this weekend, with Tottenham and Arsenal facing off in the latest instalment of the North London derby.

Arsenal are confirmed to be without the likes of Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Mikel Merino, and Kieran Tierney through injury, while Declan Rice misses out through suspension after his red card against Brighton last time out. Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Jesus could also miss out, with the pair marked as doubts for the tie.

Ex-Premier League forward Chris Sutton thinks this will play a major role in the outcome of the match, with Sutton backing a Spurs win, stating: “No Rice, no Odegaard… and no win. Tottenham have not had the luck their play has deserved so far this season, but I have a feeling that will change this weekend.”

Despite the Gunners’ notable absentees, some of the best football betting sites still have them as 13/10 favourites for the clash, while Ange Postecoglou’s side are rated at 2/1 to claim all three points.

Sutton Also Backing Wins For Manchester City, Liverpool, And Manchester United In Gameweek 4

Former Celtic star Sutton is also backing the top three heading into the gameweek, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Brighton, to come out on top in their respective ties on Saturday afternoon.

Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls welcome Premier League new boys Ipswich Town to the south coast, as Liverpool host Nottingham Forest at Anfield, and the reigning champions entertain Brentford, also at home.

Speaking on the City vs Brentford clash, Sutton said: “I refuse to put Erling Haaland in my Fantasy Premier League team on principle, because the whole nation has picked him, but he is just unstoppable at the moment and City should win this one comfortably.

“City don’t usually hit their stride so early in a season. If this is them just warming up, then god help the rest of the Premier League.”

Sutton has also predicted Manchester United to bounce back from two successive defeats in the English top flight as they prepare to take on newly promoted Southampton at St. Mary’s in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The best UK betting sites seem to agree with Sutton’s predictions for these four clashes, with City, Liverpool, Brighton, and Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils priced as favourites to win their respective fixtures.
